I don't think there is need for any report to assert such an obvious fact. _____________________________________________________ Yea! I could be wrong...

Yes right. But what Bush and his criminal minded aides have brain washed american is that the muslim world hates americans because of the freedom american enjoy. This is so ridiculous that Pantagon advisory panel *had* to publish a report to tell dubya what the situation is like.

So do you think that the report and its finding are incorrect?

It's the BBC - so most likely the British Government is trying to tell you something.

US 'alienating' world's Muslims The US is losing "the war of ideas" in the Islamic world, a Pentagon advisory panel has warned. A report by the Defence Science Board says official US talk of bringing democracy to Muslim nations is seen as "self-serving hypocrisy". It says if the US wants Muslims to move towards its understanding of tolerance, it must reassure them this does not mean submitting to "the American way". The report urges Washington to change its approach urgently. I wonder what Bush and neocons will derive off of this. Please post your thoughts

And what is wrong with the American Way??? If it's so terrible why don't many of the people living in the muslim world give up Nike or Chevrolet or eating our food or taking our money. What the hell is wrong with you people? Are you happy living under the thumb of a brutal dictatorship? Being repressed and constantly told what to do, wear, think? If you really want to be left alone do the following: Renounce all terrorist activity. Renounce the perceived feeling that its Mulim or dead (for the whole world) Make peace with Israel - they are not going to give in. Ever. Free your own people. Free your women. What, are you scared of them??? Rant over. Don't feel any better, tho, just sadder...

As the resident "neocon" I am inclined to wonder if the Muslim world worrys about alienating me? I am further inclined to wonder about how the two cultures can avoid alienating one another. Islamic values appear to be diametrically opposed in virtually every possible way to western values. If someone is going to change to accomodate the other, frankly, I would prefer it be the Muslims. So, I suppose I can only answer by asking my own question: What is there about Islamic culture that I am supposed to respect, honor and wish to see continued into the future? And why am I supposed to care whether Muslims are alienated or not?

Just out of curiosity, what should our reaction to their arrogance be? Humility? Introspection? If we have any faith in our own values at all, why wouldn't a little arrogance own our part be in order.

Here is a list of preconditions of being left alone for the Americans: Don't invade other countries for bogus reasons. Renounce the perceived feelings that if you are not with us you are terrorists. Please verify here [^] Sorry to say, I've always thought of the BBC as a step above CBS and Dan Rather. Guess I was mistaken. :( Best, Jerry

You want peace? Really? Then, yes, do what I say. It is sensible, moderate and doesn't require anyone to be like me or mine. And then maybe we won't need to invade your country so that you'll leave us alone. We don't go round flying planes into buildings or getting children to walk bombs into crowded restaurants. Okay, we may not be perfect (far from it) but at least I don't care that you're a muslim. Whereas you see to care deeply that I'm not.

I don't want to sound like an idiot, and I am not attacking you but the source of this. Have you noticed the number of statements that come out of the Pentagon and the mainstream media in the past few years that have turned out to be self serving lies? I am exasperated at people who learn that something has been fixed for what-amounts-to-propaganda and then turn around and instantly forgive them, listening patiently to the next "big story". This has burned people both the left and the right. On the right we had Rathergate, showing that the media is at the very least extremely sloppy. On the left we have the granddaddy of all exaggeration / lies the Hunt for WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUUUUUUUUCTION, which the British and US Media mindlessly passed on to us. How long are you people going to put up this constant stream of repeated spin and incompetent reporting? We have an alternative now - the internet and word of mouth, the oldest and best form of media.

I am not trying to teach you *ANYTHING*, just pointing to your high level of ignorance.
