:) ... thought I might get an answer like that. Actually, the Standard edition came out just a few months ago and I need to get a full blown development package.... the Professional edition has what I need. I need to make this purchase in a month or two and if the Prof Ed. is expected in that time frame, I'll wait. If not, I'll get the 2003 package now.

hehe. Well, I a couple minutes of digging. I Don't think Microsoft even knows[^] given that VS2005 Prof. isn't even listed there. You can order the Beta[^] for a nominal fee if you're not an MSDN subscriber. Hope that helps. Marc MyXaml Advanced Unit Testing

I agree, If they do make it out in 2005 it will be very very late in the year. I mean beta 2 isn't even out yet and from what I understand it won't be until probably until February Matt Newman

Where are you seeing that the Standard edition is out? I can find beta versions of the Express editions, and beta for the Professional one, but nothing about a Standard version being released. I know that there are some MAJOR problems with the latest version of VS2005 and it taking the cpu to 100% when you have an ASPX page up with embedded javascript. I doubt MS would release a product with that big of a problem. Steve Maier, MCSD MCAD

http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/2004/sep04/09-13VSLiveOrlandoPR.asp[^] Actually, under closer inspection, they announced the creation of, but not the release of, the Standard Edition. Subtle, but significant.
