Best Fixed Width Font

Hey all, What font do you all use for your fixed width work? What do you use to code in, for your consoles, etc.? I'm wondering because I'm configuring a new computer and wondering what font I should use for that sort of stuff. -- Adam "If you can't beat your computer in chess, try kickboxing"

I always use Courier New 9pt. Anything else is just not right;P

Lucida Console. I like it much better than Courier New because it does not have that excessive "typewriter" look to it (all those serifs): 12345678901234567890123456789012 This is a Lucida Console example 12345678901234567890123456789 This is a Courier New example The only warning is that it is a little hard sometimes to tell the difference between some upper and lowercase characters, like w & W. But I find it much easier on the eyes because I use a "reversed-contrast" setup (light characters on a dark blue background); the serifs in Courier New tend to blend/blur into the background for me. Try designing one *correctly* and you'll appreciate how friggin hard it is to get right. I was blown away at all the different things you need to account for to do a good font, especially if you add any level of unicode support. ¡El diablo está en mis pantalones! ¡Mire, mire! Recently, it was Gauss elimination ;) Actually Pascal was my first programming language (except little playing with BASIC - bt I was sooo young and self-taught, no real algorithms, just playing with PRINT :-O) on highschool, bt (2?) years ago I moved to C++/C#. The first computer I ever programmed was a Commodore SuperPet and it had a built in black and green monitor and even years later I used to set my Borland C compiler editor to use the same colors. For some reason Windows wore me down though and I succumbed to the black and white, but just for old time's sake I'm going to see how easy it is to make visual studio do green on black for the day tomorrow.
