As someone who did hire a few month ago I must say I don't know what ISEB is :-/ And from the other end of the stick, it's hard to find skilled people willing to dedicate themselves to a project (ok, that's east germany). Seems a *huge* disparity of expectations on both sides. Best of luck on your job hunt, and update us on any news, ok?
we are here to help each other get through this thing, whatever it is Vonnegut jr.

Hey, congratulations on passing your certificate. I personally start a new job 2 weeks today :-D but it took me 4-5 months before i even got my first interview. I went through my CV/Resumee and made sure that i wasn't putting people off, it turns out that because i have worked in IT support for the past 3 years no one was interested. Employers were not taking my application seriously because they assumed i was a support worker just dabbling in IT. In reality i'm a programmer that just happened to get a support job 3 years ago and never had the opportunity to break into programming (until now). So i played down my support roles and focused on the programming that i have done in the last 12 months, i worked towards (and passed) my MCAD in C# in August so that became my focus instead of my previous experience. I ended up getting 2 interviews within a week of making these changes to my CV. So keep at it and make sure your putting yourself forward correctly, contact an agency, send them your CV and ask their opinion on it. See if they think you are putting yourself forward in the correct way, you don't have to lie on your CV but only include the bits that will help you. Hope this helps. Kev

Congrats. Good comments too on how to tailor your resume. You might even expand on it and make it into an article!:) Chris Meech I am Canadian. [heard in a local bar] Gently arching his fishing rod back he moves the tip forward in a gentle arch releasing the line.... kersplunk [Doug Goulden] Nice sig! [Tim Deveaux on Matt Newman's sig with a quote from me]

Nice idea but i'm working on my first article at the minute. It's gonna be on Managed DirectX and C#, starting with DirectDraw and moving on from there. A friend and myself are putting together a website about it that will hopefully be up this side of christmas. Kev

Did you mention your articles on CP in your resume? I used to be involved with the hiring of programmers and would have been more impressed with well written articles that I could look at myself than a certification.
absolutely.

Yes I did mention the articles. I wonder if I should move the mention of the articles to the first page instead of the last page.:doh::sigh: I am the handsome one in the crowd.
