There have been so many news about IE and Firefox lately. Just want to get opinion of people here that how far do you think that Firefox will take on IE. Heard about XUL too. Do you think just firefox can effect Microsoft's reputation? I hope google doesn't jump in the browser race, heard that they are working on a browser and own gbrowser.com. Opinions?

Hello, and welcome to last month... ------- sig starts "I've heard some drivers saying, 'We're going too fast here...'. If you're not here to race, go the hell home - don't come here and grumble about going too fast. Why don't you tie a kerosene rag around your ankles so the ants won't climb up and eat your candy ass..." - Dale Earnhardt "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001

I much prefer IE over Firefox. However, I hope the latter takes a chunk out of Microsoft's market share so they'll get off their lazy butt and fix some of IEs bugs. (Don't care about tabbed browsing, but MS may as well add that for those who do. I'm more annoyed by occasional stability problems. They need to fix Outlook Express too.) Anyone who thinks he has a better idea of what's good for people than people do is a swine. - P.J. O'Rourke

IE works everywhere, Firefox has problems amongst other places right here on this forum (can't quote a message to reply, can't auto insert proper url link etc). Plus I kept getting popup ads with Firefox that I dont' get with IE and it's own popup blocker. Also Firefox seems to load more slowly when I run it. Since they are both free and I've never had any problem with IE, I'm sticking with IE after giving Firefox a really good test.

I agree, i hope the development is speeding up now. it would be great to see some more css3 implementations in the next releases. if you want more features just use something like maxthon[^], the only thing i totaly miss on IE are the developer features from firefox. :(

Lot's of sites are designed with IE in mind. Since Microsoft doesn't bother to follow the HTML standard a lot of those sites (unintentionally) don't use the HTML standard either. This is not a fault of the Firefox browser but a fault of the arrogance at Redmons. I design sites myself using notepad and try to stick to the HTML specifications. IE has certain render error due to wrong interpretation of the HTML code. Saying that Firefox doesn’t show pages correct is turning the world upside down. I hope that with an increasing Firefox share, sites using correct HTML will increase and Microsoft will be forced to implement a correct HTML interpreter. Greetings Stijn PS: > I want Proper PNG Support for IE<
