Wait a minute. Has microsoft released any open source software? Nah. They'd never do that. There's no money in it. :-D Why not throw away a dime? I throw away ten pennies all the time.

No way! If they're resorting to spamming, then the product probably isn't that good anyway. :suss: Jon Sagara What about :bob:?

Why would anybody buy anything from a company that has to resort to deceitful spamming to sell their product? Why not throw away a dime? I throw away ten pennies all the time.

Wow that went from me being light hearted to nearly destroying my keyboard in 5 minutes flat. I think whoever thinks open source companies are "different", "nice", "morale", "looking out for consumers", etc. etc. has a big fat wake up call coming their way. Just because they produce free software does not mean they do not lie, cheat or steal. In fact they may have to do these things more often than normal companies just to make some money! (I consider exhorbitant software support stealing, open source seems to rely on this, unless you know a kid down the street who creates Linux modules or what not.) Of course I am sure you realise all of this and were just pushing my buttons :) Kevin Ranville wrote: Open source software companies don't annoy people the world over. A lot of good things die because they do not market themselves properly. BetaMax is the cliched example. Just because someone uses odd or bad tactis in marketing does not mean the product is bad. That X10 thing apparently is very good, but their marketing is annoying as hell. I would rather get spam than pop-up ads. At least spam is easier to kill. regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass Cape Town, South Africa Do you Sonork? I'm just wondering: Have you, or anyone you know, or even anyone you heard of, ever bought anything as a result of an email SPAM? Not me. But someone must be. They would have quit by now if there was no money in it. X| Why not throw away a dime? I throw away ten pennies all the time.

I think kevin was joking inside your joke. So basically we had a joke within the joke and the inside joke-maker [you] didnt read the outter joke. Or maybe there is a 3rd level joke and I didnt read that ;-) Nish Sonork ID 100.9786 voidmain www.busterboy.org If you don't find me on CP, I'll be at Bob's HungOut
