Hi, I saw the comercial of this game on the tv :omg:, and boy did it makes me want to buy a PS2. These are the greatest graphics I've ever seen on a game. Is anybody playing it yet ? Or planing to play it  I have been playing these games sice FFV7, and I am on FFIX right know (since I can only play a few hours a month, it takes a while to finish them). To bad they gave me an XBox for christmas (is really cool though). I guess I'll be buying a PS2 just for this game (and other square soft games). Rodrigo. Why wouldn't MS spend some money on square soft. They had to know that these type of games will win them a whole lot of users.

Not playing FF X yet, but PS2 rocks! There is not too much good (good = using PS2 capacity) RPG games for PS2 yet. But I'm addicted to Tsugunai and ICO at this moment. Crivo Automated Credit Assessment

I've been playing it for a little bit. The graphics are great and the story is pretty good too. But the game is linear and it's starting to get very repetitive. I'd say buy it, but I think FFIX is better. -Ric

I'm a FF addict, I have to admit. I've played and beaten 1 (remember the original on NES?), 4 (2 in US), 6 (3 in US), and 7. I'm currently working on 5 (via an SNES Emulator) and 8. I plan to get 9 and 10 eventually, but don't really have any spare cash at the moment... :(( Jamie Nordmeyer Portland, Oregon, USA

I am a Final Fantasy fan. I have played 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9. I enjoyed 4, 5, 6, 7, and 9. I did not like 8, I didn't even beat it. I stopped playing when I started spending more time playing the card game than I played the actual game. My friend has 10. I have watched him play it. I think it is dull. (On a number of occasions I fell asleep while watching him play it.) There are too many dramatic pauses. It seems like Squaresoft was more concerned with showing off the speech engine then progressing the story. Although I like that the fight scenes are faster than FF7, 8, and 9 I do not like the game as a whole. It seems like a point and click adventure.

I've played all the US released FF's starting with the one on the NES, plus FF5 on an NES emulator (didn't finish it, though). The only reason I bought a Playstation was FF7. The only reason I bought a PS2 was FFX :) FFX is, in my opinion, one of the best in recent times. Its full-motion-video is, of course, fantastic. The real-time rendering engine (ie just regular walking around) is where the biggest improvement lies. The designers kept tight control over the camera, which means they always make sure you get a good view of the 3D world as you move around (yes, the world is fully-rendered 3D instead of the pre-rendered backdrops in the PS games). Some of the non-pre-rendered scenes, and some of the monster battles, are simply breathtaking graphics. The battle system is pretty cool, too, as you can switch out characters during the battle. I don't much like the fact that the battle system is completely turn based now, though. The thing I don't like about this game, like the ones on the PS before it, is that it is more movie than RPG. That wouldn't be too bad, but it makes it worse since the dialog is so damn teenage-highschool-drama-ish. I miss the old days of having to fight around alot to get enough gold to buy the next cool weapon that you simply couldn't do without. That always felt like such an accomplishment :) Oh yes - there's also no overworld map. Now that sucks - because it makes the game seem much less open-ended that its predecessors. There's nothing cooler in an FF as the first time you get to fly the airship ;) The abilities system is quite inventive, but my favorite is still the junction system from FF8. Overall, it boils down to whether or not you'd like to spend 390USD to buy the PS2, memory card, and FFX. If you think you'll play other PS2 games (there are quite a few really fun ones), then I would say 'go for it'. Otherwise, rent a PS2 and FFX to see whether or not it's worth it before you buy. -- Russell Morris AFLAC Software Research Center "WOW!
