I'm in the market for a new wristwatch. I've been looking at Fossil, but do you have any other recommendations? I'm not looking for a Rolex or anything like that. Well, I'll insert my shameless plug here since I work for Timex Corporation. We have some nice analog chronographs that are pretty inexpensive. Here is an example of a Chrono watch You can go through the watch finder and look for other types of watches as well. I also recommend our 100 lap Ironman product. Stylish, as well as functional. Another note: some of the watches have simulations written in Macromedia Director that let you play with the watches before you buy. I personally prefer Swatch. IMHO Irony series looks almost perfectly with a suit (if it is necessary for an interview), at least much better than Fossil or Timex. Regards, Igor Proskuriakov

I've had worn Fossil watches for the past 5+ years and love them. They are normally sub $100 watches and I have gotten many complements out of them. The Fossil Steel line is very nice looking! I bought myself a Swatch Irony Aluminium and have not regretted a second of it :-D Great watch, modern but professional. You can wear it with a suit or at the beach. The brushed aluminium affect is really sweet and it is very light so you don't walk around with one hand dragging on the floor. Plus it has a 1/100s stopwatch with some nifty features :) I play with it far too often, especially on the tube. Naturally the hands are luminescent and it has a date window. As for Fossil, well they look damned awesome but i don't know about their quality. I'd recommend Seiko. They're not as pricey as they used to be and seem to be very durable. The one I'm wearing has gone 17 years so far, and is showing no signs of failing!

Anothe reply but... What type of watch do you guys currently wear? i.e. a chronograph (with hands) or a digital (with numbers on a screen.) I wore a digital up until I was 15 and then bought a chrono when I was 20. I must have gone through about 15 watches from about the age of 10 till I was 15. Luckily my parents were smart and bought cheap watches since I always broke them eventually. Make and style of watch is interesting too... I picked up a store-branded velcro wristwatch from Marks and Sparks (aka Marks and Spencers), for twenty five quid over five years ago, and it is still working fine. I bought a Seiko Premier Kinetic Auto-Relay about 2 months ago as a present to myself when I made my 20% bonus. It retails at £400 but I got it for £300 so I was quite pleased. I have never had a really nice watch but I thought it was time. I keep telling myself that as a sophisticated man about town the only reason I bought it was for for how solid and pretty it is. The truth is that the geek in me just wanted a watch that I could leave lying around for a few days and the next time I put it on it would wake up and wind itself to the proper time. Wow, exactly the same as me. I used digital watches than done all sorts of weird things up until 17, when my parents bought me a nice chrono watch. I really liked the style, and haven't looked back since. Looking at the time on a chrono gives you a better view of the day as a whole. Simon Nobody does chicken like MFC Sonork ID 100.10024

Well, I'm pretty particular about my watches. I don't like those gawdy and clunky ones with the big dials on them or the completely useless floating "ring" that twists around. I like my watch to be light, and pretty subdued, yet elegant and durabale. In that vein, a few years back I found a really nice Titanium Seiko watch which I paid about $300 for. That's a lot, but when you consider that this watch has lasted years and doesn't have *ONE* single scratch on it, despite the abuse I put it through.. it's amazing. It keeps perfect time and is durable as all hell, plus light as a feather (you barely know it's there). They still make it today, which shows that it's a pretty good product. Alas, I still haven't grown up. I'm 32 and still wear a digital watch... but a pretty decent one. It's a Timex digital watch with "Indiglo" (ooooooh). I just don't like giving much thought to something as mundane as getting the current time. A digital watch just gives it to me and with great down-to-the-second precision. It also gives me the date, day of the week, an alarm, a timer, a chronograph, a light... and it's water resistant.... Hey buddy, wanna buy a watch? :-) Regards, Alvaro

I've had the goldtone Fossil "Blue" for about a year. Works fine and looks great. I get a a lot of people asking me about it, cuz it looks really expensive. Cost me about $70.
