Slipstreaming away...
-
Using a free utility called nLite[^] I've apparently "slipstreamed" XP SP2 and created a bootable XP installation CD that includes SP2 (plus a number of hotfixes released since SP2). I wish I had a spare PC lying around to try it on. :~ Maybe I'll install VMWare and give it a try. Anybody have any experience with slipstreaming or nLite? Yup, though I have always done it manually cia command line. Works great and really speeds up fresh installs.
Found on Bash.org [erno] hm. I've lost a machine.. literally _lost_. it responds to ping, it works completely, I just can't figure out where in my apartment it is.

If you want some real fun (and have the hardware) try making a bootable XP DVD - It took me about 4 days of playign around to get it working, until I finally worked out that even though the disc will hold more than 4gig, it won't boot or install properly (different errors depending on how full the disc is) unless there is less than 4gig of data on there Does anyone have info / links on how to slipstream drivers into the package? - ie, hard drive controllers

I created slipstreamed sp2 CDs following the guide on WinSuperSite. It's pretty easy. Sure cuts down on the time it takes to build a machine and get it patched/secured/updated. Did you know you can also add additional files to the CD? I added my antivirus software to it, so once Windows is up and running, I can quickly and easily run the AV setup program from the CD that is already in the drive, thus reducing the time that the machine is not fully protected. http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sp2_slipstream.asp[^]
