What music would you play at your funeral
-
A bit of a morbid topic maybe but something worth thinking about. If you could only choose one song to play at your own funeral and/or reception which would it be? If you can, say why. Mine would be Ace of Spades. Preferably live - even if by then it would be a Motorhead tribute band. I just think that as well as being an excellent song it would sum up the occasion perfectly. I'd rather go to hell on a good note than some old-fashioned hymn that no one can sing properly.

Bon Jovi - "Dead or Alive", Oingo Boingo's "Dead Man's Party". And maybe some Grateful Dead... or White Zombie... or... well, you get the picture. :-D An expert is somebody who learns more and more about less and less, until he knows absolutely everything about nothing.

David Wulff wrote: some old-fashioned hymn Hymn? Who wants a hymn? I'd blast them with a good organ symphony, preferably Saint-Saens' symphony #3. Gives me goosebumps when I hear it. Heck, it might even wake the dead! :-D Marc MyXaml Advanced Unit Testing YAPO

seriously: 1. Baby, I'm gonna leave you (Led Zeppelin) or I Could Have Lied (Red Hot Chilipeppers) Not because they have anything to do with death, but because they're my two favourites. I'll also like to have 'Leven na de dood' played. (Life after death) because it's so god d*mn funny . Probably "This one's for the girls" by Martina McBride and "Beautiful Day" by U2. Both are tracks that mean a great deal to me, being associated with my rebirth in Thailand in November 2003. :rose: "I'll Stand by You" by the Pretenders is another I'd probably have included. Ooo that'll be fun... Saint Peter: "Ah, Andrew - nice to see - " Anna-Jayne: "It's Anna-Jayne." SP: "Ah... er um well, it says here we sent down an Andrew." AJ: "I've been meaning to talk to you about that." SP: "Hmmm... this is going to mess up our quota you know." AJ: "Quota?" SP: "Yes. We mostly 'reap what we sow' as it were." AJ: (wryly) "How awful for you." SP: "Fancy a bit of a break down south?" AJ: (even more wryly) "Sounds lovely..." :)

I think it would depend on my mood when I write up my LW&T. Maybe something from Queen's Made In Heaven album. I might have them install some animatronics in the coffin for some fun.

Well the geek in me, kind of likes the idea of the music played towards the end of 'Return of the Jedi' as Luke lights Vaders funeral pyre. I think however, I'll go with "You're My Best Friend" by Queen. Michael CP Blog [^] Development Blog [^]

dnh wrote: Why do you think you'd go to hell, btw? Doesn't everybody think they are going to go to hell. I certainly haven't lived a blameless life, having broken at least a couple of the 10 commandments. Not to mention, I'm not likely to repent and ask for forgiveness on my deathbed either. So if there is a hell, I'll be going there - but least I know I'll be in good company. Michael CP Blog [^] Development Blog [^]
