Indeed. There is this great website where people write as fictional characters, more specifically as programmers. They argue politics and war and language choice as well as sexual orientation and hell, it can get heated. There's Stan, Wulff, Mike, someone naming themselves after a throat lozenge and a whole bunch of amazing characters. Thank god it's all fictional though... hey wait a minute, there's a guy named Shog9 from outer space on it too... :~ Let me out! Curiously enough, I took a couple of pictures of a couple of my book shelves yesterday. http://blogs.wdevs.com/colinangusmackay/archive/2005/01/30/2124.aspx[^] I have many more books than that from when I was first starting to get to grips with .NET, so they don't get opened much these days. I also have some ancient books on C and C++ from way back.

:-D I imagine that wouldn't be all your books. I'm putting myself on a buying freeze until I've cleared out my backlog. I have enough unread material to last me through the year, especially at the snails pace I'm reading Frankenstein. I hope it gets better, because at the moment the action isn't all that gripping and to make matters worse the writing is roundabout. A random sentence. "Exhaustion succeeded to the extreme fatigue both of body and of mind which I had endured. For a short space of time I remained at the window watching the pallid lightnings that played above Mont Blanc and listening to the rushing of the Arve, which made its noisy way beneath." Just not my style, I guess, but hey it's a classic.:rolleyes: BW

It is that the prose, being of a flowery and over-descriptive ilk, to me finds itself obtrusively in the path of the action. Were that I enjoyed language for its own sake moreso than the development of character or plot, which perhaps in this particular case is too well-known to allow the story to flourish of it's own accord, I might be better equipt to gleen the beauty of this tale. I find in the reading that I must initially engage into the books 19th century vernacular, taking me from the task of focusing upon the very reason I read, which is to say from enjoying a fine tale. Were that your presence was but 1300 miles less distant I would gladly loan you my copy replete with photos from the latest theatrical release bearing it's name. BW
