With all the talk lately, I was just wondering if anyone has ever taken a look at Guru[^] Has anyone used Guru? -- Edward Livingston (aka ExtraLean) -- "I still maintain that seeing a nipple is far less disturbing than seeing someone get their brains blown out." -- Chris Maunder

RentACoder has "sucker" written all over it (sorry Christian) and Guru.com doesn't look much better. These are people who want something for essentially nothing. Look around both and you'll find requests like "Want clone of Nero" for $500. Beyond the obvious scam, any company so clueless about software budgeting probably doesn't have the money to pay you and won't even if they did. Anyone who thinks he has a better idea of what's good for people than people do is a swine. - P.J. O'Rourke

My Dad has had very good luck with Guru.com. The programmer's he's contracted out to have been exceedingly knowledgeable and have produced good results. I can't say anything for the programming side, but on the buyer side, he seems to think it's great.

I think both sites exemplify the addage, "You get what you pay for". If you go and out-source to the lowest bidder, you'll end up with crap and likely as not, end up with non-functional software. If however you engage in a dialog to discover who are the serious bidders that actually want to assist you, you can achieve mutual success. The bidders get paid for their work and you end up with functioning software. Chris Meech I am Canadian.
