Happy Women's Day
-
I'm sorry, no disrespect intended, and I fully sympathize with the difficulty women have in what is primarily a male dominated world, but I have to say, this[^] just strikes me as a totally ridiculous, dumb, waste of time, "event". Like most other "xxx Day" events. I'll go away now. :) Marc MyXaml Advanced Unit Testing YAPO
If this trend of adding new XXX days continues for much longer, we'd have to extend an year to more than 365 days to accomodate all the XXX days, unless you wanna have XXX and YYY days falling on the same day.

But we get a month![^] ROTFLMAO. See? Stupid. STUPID!!! Marc MyXaml Advanced Unit Testing YAPO
And women would say..."just another reason that we are superior to you, we only need a day to celebrate, you need a whole month" Steve

And how about a mens day ? Why is it not allowable to point out the ways that our society favours women over men ? Christian I have several lifelong friends that are New Yorkers but I have always gravitated toward the weirdo's. - Richard Stringer
I'm all in favor, Christian! A day when they take out the trash, hold the door open for us, bring us flowers (yeah, I admit - I'm a sucker for tulips), rub our feet, pay for the movie, remember to leave the seat up. Let's run it up a flagpole and see who salutes.:-D "If it's Snowbird season, why can't we shoot them?" - Overheard in a bar in Bullhead City

ROTFL - I spoke too soon !!! Here's an event they have listed: ----------------------------------------------- Healing the Mother Wound® is offered for women only and men only and is facilitated by Shauna Wilson. Through our navel we have the visible evidence of our link to our biological mother - a link that is encoded with messages - our history, patterns, destiny, even our sense of self. We inherit our self-esteem and self worth from our mothers. We are tied to this women who birthed us. And we are tied to the generations that preceded us. As an egg in our Mother's womb, we rested in the womb of our Grandmother. We can choose to release ourselves from the bondage that traps us. We can heal the wounds we took on from our mothers. The journey to freedom is through excavating the memories and feelings, acknowledging experiences, releasing emotions, forgiving ourselves and others, and opening to new possibilities. When we heal our Mother Wound, we break the cycle. We become free. This workshop is experiential in nature. The intention is to break through barriers and old patterns through movement, Tantrum Yoga® breath and release work, psychodrama, meditation and processes that excavate wounds and ties that keep us stuck. This program is in a 4-day, 3-night retreat setting. Similar program for women only in May and Oct. www.HOWworkshops.com Harbon Hot Springs, Middletown, CA $650 (5/13-16/05, 10/7-10/05) -------------------------------------------------------------- As an egg in our mothers womb, we rested in the womb of our grandmother ? What sort of hippy crap is this ? What sort of mentally disturbed people go for this bollocks ? Christian I have several lifelong friends that are New Yorkers but I have always gravitated toward the weirdo's. - Richard Stringer
Christian Graus wrote: Tantrum Yoga I was once married to the "lady" who invented that, I think.:sigh: The proper term is "Tantra" or "Tantric," I believe. That's news to me - I just thought it was another boring weekday. In the UK Sunday was supposed to be Mother's Day. When I was young I always remembered it to be something of a chore, and it didn't feel special in anyway. It was just "expected". :~ Personally I don't get the "xxxx Day" thing. With my family refusing to acknowledge me, it seems rather pointless. I send cards anyway, but only because I won't give up. One day I'll probably just turn up on their doorstep unannounced and say simply "remember me?". Our pastor made a point of talking about this in the service on Sunday evening, pointing out that with so many of us estranged from our birth families, our Church celebrates Family Day instead...and that all of us should consider each other as family. For me, that rings so true - my friends are my family now. :rose: Anna :rose: Riverblade Ltd - Software Consultancy Services Anna's Place | Tears and Laughter "Be yourself - not what others think you should be" - Marcia Graesch "Anna's just a sexy-looking lesbian tart" - A friend, trying to wind me up. That's really sad that your family can't accept what you've gone through. Jeez. I believe I speak for most (if not all) of us when I say Happy Family day from your family here at CP. ;)

I wish I could send you real lovely flowers today as I normally do for my friends, I didn't remember exactly when I started doing this, but I still remember I used to pick up nice flowers in a public park in my hometown to give my girl schoolmates (as I didn't have much money at that time :)). Hopefully, today is a quite special day to you.

Feminists would argue there are already 364 mens days per year :) I strongly disagree with that. Of course

Thank you honey :rose: As it turned out it has been a pretty good day today. I can certainly sympathise hun. :rose: When I was married I was really struggling to keep up with my wife's spending (despite being on a very good income by industry standards)...by the time we divorced there was £16,000 worth of debt as a result. It's no fun being married to someone who doesn't understand personal finance. I certainly won't fall into that trap again.
