that I went to the same school, The Royal High School[^] as Alexander Graham Bell (obviously at different times) The article on Bell[^] himself indicates that he was a weird person (my opinion): "advocating sterilization of the deaf" it then goes on to say "his wife Mabel, a former student of his, was deaf. Together they had children, none of which were deaf" - That is weird "Although this attitude is widely seen as paternalistic and arrogant today, it was fitting for the time" Anyway, did you go to the same school as someone famous?

The Chess player Vishwanathan Anand. I found out when he showed up to preside over a school day when I was in sixth grade or so. And I've never been able to verify this but someone claimed that Nasser Hussain went to school for a couple of years or so at my school (in Madras, India) weird as that may sound. "One of the Georges," said Psmith, "I forget which, once said that a certain number of hours' sleep a day--I cannot recall for the moment how many--made a man something, which for the time being has slipped my memory."

Yeah most South Indian names you can pronounce right by enunciating all the vowel sounds clearly. Very rarely are names shortened. "One of the Georges," said Psmith, "I forget which, once said that a certain number of hours' sleep a day--I cannot recall for the moment how many--made a man something, which for the time being has slipped my memory."

Edward V. Appleton ... [nobelprize.org^] ...would have been a school mate of mine if I'd been born 60 years earlier. Not hugely famous outside of physics circles but without his discovery .. the "Appleton Layer" ( now known as the ionosphere ) you wouldn't be able to watch live broadcast of international cricket matches from foreign countries ... ... which brings me to the second "famous name" from Hanson--who was a school-mate back in the day--Dave Bairstow: played a pretty fair hand of 3-card-brag behind the stands (bleachers) at lunch time when he was supposed to be running laps in training for what would become his career a England's wicket-keeper from 1979 to 1981... [www.sporting-heroes.net^] A short career but he was largely responsible for putting the Aussies in their place during the first official World Series in Australia (1979-80) ;-) Steve T

I know of at least 10 others who have served 8+ years each for various violent felonies. I went to a rough highschool. :omg: "Reality is what refuses to go away when I stop believing in it."
