I ended up accepting $200 for the job that I did for $450, after the buyer offered me $300, I accepted and RAC let him not pay me after I sent the code. I finally got the money today. After all their fees, $200 turns into $129.25. I kid you not. So now I'm going to post a job on RAC, to write a website where people who have been ripped off by RAC can post their stories, and where developers considering the user of RAC can be encouraged to come to their senses. Christian I have several lifelong friends that are New Yorkers but I have always gravitated toward the weirdo's. - Richard Stringer

Damn - they send my RAC job to a human editor before posting it. So it will not get posted. Oh, well, I expected it to die, I just hoped it would 'go live' for a bit first. Have you looked into guru.com? Their site looks more professional, though I don't have any experience with them personally. Perhaps you'd have better luck there? http://www.guru.com/[^] Good luck! -- Edward Livingston (aka ExtraLean) -- "I still maintain that seeing a nipple is far less disturbing than seeing someone get their brains blown out." -- Chris Maunder

I was just on the site and noticed that they are affiliated with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). After reading all the problems you've had with RAC, I'd send the BBB a line. I've always heard of good things about the BBB, and even if they do not actually DO anything, the fact that you submitted a complaint to them, is visible to anyone inquiring about RAC. Thanks, John

It reminds me of the forum on a site where I used to work. We had to add "class action" to the filter list because people were asking for people to join a class action suits. They also posted cartoons based with characters from the web site getting lucky. People will do wierd things.

I wonder if there is a way to set up a site in reverse to what rentacoder is doing. Eg; have a source pool of good coders who are bidded for by firms wanting work done. Regardz Colin J Davies The most LinkedIn CPian (that I know of anyhow) :-)

Quality posting on RAC :) It just show as far as human reviewers/testers are concerned you CAN "fool some of the people ALL of the time". I wonder what will be next? An article of microsoft.com on how to migrate to Linux and remove XP? ---------- I still remember having to write your own code in FORTRAN rather than be a cut and paste merchant being pampered by colour coded Intellisense - ahh proper programming - those were the days :)
