I have had a recurrence of my frozen shoulder injury/ailement which threatens to shorten my (already over-the-hill) amateur football status[^] Does anyone know of anything that can help without recourse to cortizone or anything subcutaneous? Sounds miserable. Merrion wrote: Does anyone know of anything that can help without recourse to cortizone or anything subcutaneous? It's possible that a naturopath might offer some alternative suggestions. The naturopath my girlfriend has gone to here in Rhode Island has been amazing in helping her with some medical issues (she had seen mainstream doctors first, and all they managed to do was a temporary relief of symptoms with steroids. Pathetic). Marc MyXaml Advanced Unit Testing YAPO

Sounds horrid. The referenced ad says nothing about the causes, though, so I have no idea what it really is. If it's nerve-related, or muscular, I highly recommend massage. Several years ago I went through a time when I had no feeling in my right arm, unless you count the occasional shooting pains that ran from finger to shoulder. It did terrible things to my darts game. Six months of visiting a chiropractor three times a week did nothing to help, but about ten sessions of deep-tissue massage eliminated it completely. It may be worth a try for you - even if it doesn't help, it feels great!:-D "If it's Snowbird season, why can't we shoot them?" - Overheard in a bar in Bullhead City

Find a massage therapist who specializes in deep tissue and trigger point therapy work. If you can find a few try them all as each will have a different 'touch' and approach - find the best one that works for you. I had a similar condition and got 100% relief after a few sessions. It's not the most comfortable treatment, but it works. Rolfing might be something to look into as well. John

As that site suggests you should visit an osteopath. I had it a few years back and was in agony - a visit to the doctors proved useless apart from a prescription for anti-inflams - where I worked was near an osteopathy school so I tried it out - it worked wonders - the pain was much reduced after 1 visit and totally gone by the time I made my 4th visit. The treatment can be very painful but is worth it. Good luck with it.

Interesting. My girlfriend has arthitis in the neck which was causing nerve damage that radiated down to her fingers. Dumbness, tingling, etc. The docs did the usual anti-inflammatory prescriptions, which destroyed her stomach. Getting her off the meds was an arduous week of pain whenever she ate and lots of cabbage juice to rebuild her stomach lining. She went to see a chiropractor and she saw improvements within a few weeks, and a few months later all the problems were resolved. We should have tried deep tissue massage--something to remember! I was thinking that if you get more numb, you must be number. So why is it that word pronounced differently than, say, "number 5"? QRZ? de WAØTTN
