many in our office are going to take Friday afternoon on the 29th off to go see the movie premiere for this. Especially those of us old enough to have played the infocom text based adventure of this book. :)

Unfortunately I'm old enought to remember the first radio broadcast and the book hitting the bookstands. ;) Intersting take on the game from the douglasadams[^] website: So it proved - the Hitchhiker's Guide adventure game was one of the best-selling games of its era, selling some 350,000 copies. In 1984. Then graphics games came along and the computer using portion of the human race forgot all about 500,000 years of language evolution and went straight back to the electronic equivalent of banging rocks together - the point'n'click game. Infocom and most of its competitors went to the wall - signaling the arrival of the post-literate society. That's the way it's been for most of the last dozen years. Want to relive some old memories? (in a slightly updated format) ... Play here[^] Steve T

gamers these day's will never get to experience the sheer joy of a fully text based adventure. Hitchhikers guide was one of my favorites along with Zork 1 (ii and iii just weren't the same), and Enchanter. The fact that douglas adams has the game on his website is beyond cool. :-D

I can't wait to see this movie. Not only do I have two copies of the game (one for the commadore 128 and one for the IBM) but I have the original move made from the tv series (3 HRs long). :omg:
