I just went to log into Gmail, and notice that the front page shows the size of my mail box, and it just keeps increasing. Currently up to 2133.822003 MB. Unbelievable... I really don't think I can use that much space for emails alone. It'd be nice if they'd make it available for storing pictures, video, etc.

Can you not send yourself emails with the files attached? But since you have copies of them already, why do you need more copies? I'm left with this feeling about GMail space that's akin to shrugging shoulders. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd rate any email I get at around -5. Spam is automatically deleted and anything I read, is deleted after either a read or a response. Maybe I'm just not the packrat kind of guy, but saving stuff, especially emails just seems like something to fill time with. :) Chris Meech I am Canadian. Yeah, I'm kind of feeling that way too; for me, I read an email, then move it to trash. Leaving everything in the inbox is just too much clutter. I think I have about 2-3 MB in my Gmail account. In my Yahoo account which I've had for more than 5 years now, I'm only using about 40 MB of the 250 available. Unless people start sending audio or video emails, I really don't think anyone's gonna use up 2 gigabyte's worth of space solely in emails. :-p

Yeah, I had that when Gmail was first released, but it seems Google updated Gmail and broke the shell extension. I suppose this new version will work though...

The latest version does work very well. I use it all the time to backup files, etc. Even though there is a 10MB file size limit an easy workaround is to use WinRar and make multiparts just under 10MB. 2+GB webdrive 4TW! :P

Found on Bash.org [erno] hm. I've lost a machine.. literally _lost_. it responds to ping, it works completely, I just can't figure out where in my apartment it is.

Most of the time, yes, but for every 1,000 e-mails you save you are always going to want to reference one you sent or received. It's easier to just keep them. I have messages from you going back to the start of 2003. I should have some more going back to 1999 in one of my archived mailbox files too. Last weekend I forced myself to finally take the six bin bags stuffed full of bubble wrap up in my attic down to the recycling centre. I was keeping it for a rainy day that never came. Also in my attic I have the boxes for everything I have ever bought that came in a box. I am a packrat.

(though with the video thing, it's easier to just keep it on your own HD than to deal with the © cops. Maybe in a few years once bandwidth allows Grandma to upload Christmas videos of the kids from her digicam...) Medication for us all You think you know me, well you're wrong

Thanks. I was looking for an invite a few weeks ago but never followed up on it. I clicked on a link and it worked the first time... John
