The "There wasn't enough complaints" response has been going on for years. Getting in touch with big companies is so hard and you have to jump through so many hoops that consumers just don't bother, hence the low complaint count. The companies equate lack of complaints to mean no problems. I think Dijkstra's "Program testing can be used to show the presence of bugs, but never to show their absence." quote applies here.

In my opinion, GM is a big joke. They suck bad, very bad. They just can't compete with the japanese, so they have cut on quality a lot in the last 20 years in order to be able to compete. Who suffers of this? Of course, the consumer. I had a GM car for 3 years (lease) and I sold it right after. It had a Pass-Lock anti-thief system. even with this additionnal security feature, it was stolen not once but TWICE! But that's not all, the Pass-Lock system did not let me start the car (with a genuine GM key) about 5 or 6 times during my lease. I had to have it towed to the garage and "unlocked" by their little computer thing that plugs under the dash. Not only Pass-Lock is pure crap because thieves can bypass it, it's even worse since it won't let the real owner start the car! For me, GM is a never again. Not until they get their act together, anyway.

This rant makes no sense to me. I am not a big GM fan but to bitch about the vehicle being stolen and blame it on the company is a bit strange. The most stolen cars in 2003 accroding to one Insurance Company list are: 2000 Honda Civic 1989 Toyota Camry 1991 Honda Accord 1994 Chevrolet Full Size C/K 1500 Pickup 1994 Dodge Caravan 1997 Ford F150 Series 1986 Toyota Pickup 1995 Acura Integra 1987 Nissan Sentra 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass Note that there is 6 imports on the list of 10. In my State (TX) for the same time frame the list is: 1994 Chevrolet Full Size C/K 1500 Pickup 1996 Honda Accord 1997 Ford F150 Series 2003 Dodge Ram Pickup 2000 Honda Civic 1990 Toyota Camry 1994 Chevrolet Suburban 1994 GMC Full Size C/K 1500 Pickup 1996 Ford Taurus 1994 Ford Explorer Note that there is only 3 imports on the list (Texas car thieves are more discriminating than some other States ) :) There are other lists put out by other insurance companies but the imports are always well represented. I am not blaming GM for having my car stolen, that's not the point. I am blaming them for having an anti-thief system so uneffective that thieves can take the car with no key, and I can't even start it with a real key! :)

I've owned three GM trucks since 1986. I've had no troubles with any of them. On the flip side, I will no buy another Chrysler product. One was enough. To each his own. :)
