Just wondering if anyone knows a good and free DOM inspector for IE like the one that comes with firefox? should it be worthy to build one if there is none (free)? "I don't want to achieve immortality through my work... I want to achieve it through not dying." Woody Allen

I was going to suggest the IE5 Web Developer Accessories, which include a Document Tree tool, but it looks like that doesn't work under XP SP2 any more. Stability. What an interesting concept. -- Chris Maunder

They still work for me on XP Pro SP2 - both DOM viewer and View Partial Source. Where would we be without the IE5 Web Developer Accessories. Bless their little cotton socks. cheers, Chris Maunder

Ah, I see the problem. I had "Allow active content to run in files on My Computer" disabled (Advanced tab of Internet Options). Clicking the "Allow blocked content" menu option from the Information Bar doesn't work. Stability. What an interesting concept. -- Chris Maunder

Try this: Note: There is no download link here, you have to add 'Favelet Suite' link to your favorites and when you want to use this tool, select this favorite from IE. http://slayeroffice.com/?c=/content/tools/suite.html[^] This is a favelet that combines most of my development favelets. When invoked, a div element will appear in the top left corner of your browser window with a list of all the favelets I've included. Simply click the link you want to invoke the favelet. An "info" icon is available to take you to the favelets information page here on slayeroffice. Included in the suite: * Color List * Document Tree Chart* * HTML Attribute Viewer * HTTP Header Viewer * Hidden Field Modifier * Javascript Object Tree* * Mouseover DOM Inspector * Object Dimensions * Page Info * Remove Children * Resize Fonts * Ruler** * Show Source * Style Sheet Tweak* * Style Sheet Viewer* Right click the following link and select "Add to Favorites" or "Bookmark this Link" pending you current choice of browser.
I don't mind coming to work, but that eight hour wait to go home is a bitch. ;)
