"Security Rollup Package". Love it! Microsoft have released a new patch - er, update, er, service pack, no, I mean security rollup package for W2K that covers all known security issues since SP2. Get it while it's hot. I assume the usual suspects will point and laugh if this is already common knowledge. cheers, Chris Maunder

It's so hot that yesterday night I spend about 3 hours recovering from problems which occured after I started the installation of the patch and then I shut down the machine a little bit prematurely (but it was a "normal" shutdown, no power-off thing). After that all I was getting was exception right after startup in the lsass.exe and it was shutting down my PC after one minute. After a lot of struggle I managed to login as administrator and re-apply the patch, seems to be working now... So, get it while it's hot, but keep your eyes open and be ready for surprises ;)

You know what George? I wish you'd posted this an hour or so ago :( Just installed the patch on one of the servers and after everything was done (and after waiting a few minutes) did a restart. The machine died and it'll be a few hours before someone can come in and fix things up on that server. cheers, Chris Maunder

Yes, it did take an abnormally long time for the patch to apply itself on my machines with ATAPI drives, but it was relatively painless with the SCSI machines. Jon Sagara What about :bob:?
