Digital Camera Recommendations Sought
-
The boss has been suitably impressed by my photos of our electrical system, installations, and work in progress, and suggested that he'd like to buy a digi for the company. Being a company-spirited employee (and interested in upgrading) I offerred my own CoolPix 4500 at a discount. He's interested, and so I'm looking to upgrade using the proceeds from the sale as an initial investment. I'm in the market for a SLR-type camera, 6Mpx or better, multiple add-on lenses available (preferably from multiple sources). The price has to be under 1000USD to be considered. What do you recommend? Boredom, Bull$^%&, Baggage, Bar - all start with 'B'

Each have their advantages and disadvantages, so an evaluation is subjective. http://www.dpreview.com/[^] is a good place, and you can see the pictures from various cameras to compare the actual output on the same scenes which in my opinion is as important as the reviews. The D70s is the latest model of the D70, fixes a few things of the D70. I have the D70 and a friend of mine has the Canon (another friend has the Canon EOS 20D). My friend with the Rebel is a better photographer than I am and gets exceptional results with it. _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. Coincidence?Canon has recently released the Canon EOS 350D/Rebel XT[^] which you can get with a decent kit lens for under a grand. Fantastic camera, you won't go wrong. 8mp, DIGIC II processor etc. Only worry might be it being too small for your hands. Try and hold one before you buy it to see if it is ok. Another option would be the new Nikon D70s[^] or Nikon D50[^]. You won't see much difference between these three cameras, not in the real world. regards, Paul Watson South Africa PMW Photography Gary Wheeler wrote: It's people like you that keep me heading for my big debut on CNN...

Coincidence?Roger, either of Canon or Nikon's latest offerings will give you everything you're looking for. Probably the best would be to try both in your hands, and go with whichever you find most intuitive to use. You must be delighted with this development! :-D

Coincidence? As both Paul and Megan said, go with either a Canon (EOS 350D) or a Nikon (D70) and you'll be a happy camper. I can recomend a Canon 1D Mark II, you will never regret it, but unfortunately it's a tad too expensive... - Anders Bill's Bar
