So my wallet got lifted last night at a local grocery store and I need a replacement. For the last many years I have been using a decent cloth Billabong wallet. My only complaint is that the plastic card holder invariably tears after a few weeks use. The rest of the wallet is great though. I feel the need for change though, something to satisfy my consumerist nature. Something slimmer maybe, less bulky but still able to hold some 'ash, plastic and photos of my sweetheart you know. The plastic holder is a softer vinyl than other brands I have had. Not as transparent, but so far it is holding up fine. Ask again in a few years. :) I do not mind getting old. It beats all the other options that I can think of.

You should not carry a wallet. Carry all plastic cards in the back pocket of you pants. If you need to carry cash keep it in your front pockets. A thick wallet in your back pocket is also bad for your back since it will cause your spine to curve while sitting.

I read an article by a reformed pick-pocket who says it's most difficult to pick wallets from the back pocket of your trousers. I'm predominantly right-handed and drive to work so I carry my wallet in my left side pocket, but if I'm going by bus or to a crowded place I make it a point to keep it in my back pocket. Sorry to hear about your pilferage. Hope you didn't lose too much. I'd say how about a money clip, but they aren't good for photos. I need to get a new wallet myself. I'm running around with one I bought in Germany years ago. It's been faithful, although the coin pouch has long since ripped, and now one side of the bill compartment is ripped as well. One day I'll replace it. BW

ouch, sorry to hear that... I get my leather, belts and wallets from a local leatherworker. I know he has a website, but I can't find his card and my memory has not had enough caffeine today. Your taste may not be mine, I prefer hand-crafted and local artisans (and businesses). The style is a roper wallet (not uncommon in the southwest) which is a cross between a checkbook cover and a wallet. _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. It was in the back pocket of my baggies. The pocket has a clip but I had not fastened it. I was carrying my camera slung over my back which probably made me a target and I was in a busy store with lots of jostling and bumping people about. I remember someone bumping my camera quite hard at one point and apologising but I did not turn around (I was more concerned about my camera than my wallet and it felt fine. Checking for my wallet did not even occur to me). I assume that is when it happened. I only found out 10 minutes later when reaching for my wallet to pay for a cappucino. Ah well. All I lost is some 'ash and a few minutes on the phone cancelling cards and ordering new ones. I like the idea of a money clip (I don't really need space for sweetheart/kid/wife photos) but do any carry plastic? I carry cash in a money clip (also local artisan), and plastic, discount cards, frequent traveler stuff, etc. are all you find in the wallet. I also have had my wallet stolen. This way all they get are credit cards, which although I am concerned about, not as concerned. The roper wallet is a big target, it stands out (though some variants use a chain, sometimes called a biker wallet, to lock it to your belt)... better it than cash any day, but I also tend to not carry much cash as well. _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. A quick google on [money clip card case] showed you still can find them, but none with much photo capability.
