Relax folks....

FOLKS, FOLKS, FOLKS!!! First of all, I thank everyone sincerely for voicing their views. I realize that most of you disagree with me-that perhaps indicates my views can spark a lot of animosity. For example, people think just because I don't post my name, I must be a hacker living somewhere in the dark corner of a room, eating pizza and posting these messages. No folks, no. I humbly request ALL of you to respect the fact that I don't want to post my name. After all, it's the point I make that matters, not who I am. If I have contributed to making this a better site by way of raising a few issues, and have made people atleast think about these issues for a brief period of time, then that's what matters-NOT my name. A great many folks have done things everyone knows about, but no one knows who did it. Okay, on to other things. Let me state this first: I THINK CHRIS IS DOING AN AWESOME AND WONDERFUL JOB. Thank you Chris! Please everyone, realize I am not saying otherwise. Codeproject is a great site and infact, is one of my favorite sites too. I do respect this site, and I AM CONCERNED ABOUT IT TOO! Surely I am allowed to slot in a wee bit of whining... :) This IS a developer community, right? No community can improve without feedback. I am very happy that a lot of people discussed on this thread...but I think it's time to put an end to it, and move on with other things. Frankly, I didn't expect this much of bashing and gnashing. Thanks to all for the various views. I am ALL FOR IMPROVING CODEPROJECT-I will try my best to make programmers' lives easier, by posting as much as I can too. Chris works his butt off, and yes, I think I have to help him as much as everyone else has to, to make this an outstanding site. Sometimes a little criticism can make everyone open their eyes; I was hoping to do that. Infact, a lot of what people said is right-I haven't asked any questions in interviews, I've been whining, etc...but please realize, I did it out of my desire to see Codeproject ranked not #56 or #xyz in the best dev web sites, but I'd like it to be ranked NUMBER 1. Towards this end, Chris...I will help as much as I can. I hope everyone joins me towards this goal as well. Let me also state that I must've hurt a lot of people's feelings about my post. I hope everyone can overlook that, if I did-I apologize. It's just an opinion for christ's sake....it's not meant to hurt anyone's feelings. Thanks once again, Chris...you've given us an awesome site to whine about :) I think it's time to get into the black

Please do be concise! Rather than a whine, obviously this message sings Chris' and The Code Project's praises to the skies. OK OK OK!! You don't have to repeat yourself five thousand times -- a long rambling message doesn't do anyone good :) Sorry, I really don't mean to be condescending -- just a friendly request. Yours, Brian

We all know that anyone can post with anyone's name in the "Your Name" slot. Up to now, we've all behaved honorably, but unless I am horribly mistaken, some anonymous coward just crossed the line with the previous impersonation. Would it be time to emulate /. and make people log in to post with a name or handle?

I like the way it works on brighthand.com and pdabuzz.com The board will show that the author is a registered user. It will also prevent unregistered people from using a registered name.

Paul, You don't honestly think that posting was from Chris do you? Come on.

My guess is that the idiot jokers will soon get bored and go somewhere else - but I wouldn't mind if some authentication was enforced. For now, I think they should just be ignored.

David, And what made you think I wrote this response? I have nothing to do with this. I just received this mail and could not understand. Please, whoever, is responsible for this should stop playing this game. It will not help anyone here, please. I have actually not posted this email directly on this site, so how come the person used my email address too?

Arg, sorry. Even I'm getting sucked into this... Registration here we come :) Actually, I think there's a pretty easy way Chris can sort the wheat from the chaff here, I'll suggest something to him later.

Yep - this is my preferred option. I'll try and get this done this week. cheers, Chris Maunder
