I'm putting together a new case - it's a MountainMods UFO2 18-inch aluminum cube. I'm going to split my watercooling loop into two separate loops, as well as running two power supplies (one for the motherboard and video card, and one for the "rotating assemblies", like pumps, fans, and drives. Here's a link[^] to my watercooling page. On that page you will find a link to my existing setup, a "things I learned about watercooling" link (for those considering the same thing), and finally, a link to the current project. ------- sig starts "I've heard some drivers saying, 'We're going too fast here...'. If you're not here to race, go the hell home - don't come here and grumble about going too fast. Why don't you tie a kerosene rag around your ankles so the ants won't climb up and eat your candy ass..." - Dale Earnhardt "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001

I am definately interested in the dual power supply setup. I am constantly overrunning the powersupply, I am running in non-standard configuration at maximum draw on a 680w powersupply. Anything I can offload is always a good idea -- especially hard drives. Jeff _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. The only hard part to this is making the 2nd PSU come on when you power up the system, and it's not really all that hard. I'll detail what I did to make it work for me when I get around to actually doing it. ------- sig starts "I've heard some drivers saying, 'We're going too fast here...'. If I can scrape together enough money over the summer I want to get to modding a new machine into a microATX...or an regular ATX with water cooling, not sure which. Good luck on your project!

I offloaded three of my seven drives to a spare PSU I found in my closet. The machine started to get a bit unstable with the +5V hanging around 4.5V when idle. The only annoying thing at the moment is the paperclip I have to bridge the green and black wires with to jumpstart the secondary PSU. :-D

Why don't you do it the way I'm doing it? 1) Get a 12vdc relay that supports at least 5a sustained. I just went to an auto parts store and got a 12vdc 3oA relay for $3. It's probably gonna sound like someone slapping a concrete floor with a 1x2 board when the realy kicks on, but hell, it'll work (and it doesn't require soldering). :) 2) Get a male molex connector and run two wires from the coil side of the relay to the connector (make sure you get the 12 volt side of the connector). 3) Get a 20-pin (or 24-pin) male atx connector and run two wires from the switch side of the relay to the connector, making sure you plug the wires into the right slots of the connector. 4) Plug the 4-pin connector from your relay to a female molex connector coming from your PRIMARY powerr supply (the one that's actually plugged into your motherboard). 5) Plug the 20 (or 24) pin connector from your relay into the 20/24 pin atx connector on your SECONDARY power supply. 6) Flip the switch and hope you got it right. ------- sig starts "I've heard some drivers saying, 'We're going too fast here...'.
