When I want to hang a picture on a wall, I use a small hammer and small nails. When I want to build a house I use a big hammer and big nails. Any one who has ever built a house understands the importance of big hammers and big nails, those who have only hung pictures don't. "Capitalism is the source of all true freedom."

But that is not to imply that you can't hang a picture with a big hammer and a big nail. :) This was a reply to Stan...seems the reply feature is hosed. VB rules because VB is easy to write and much more productivity. Also it is the most popular with majority of most programmers. So it proves C# is not even in close proximity to VB wheather in style, syntax or synergy not withstanding the fact that it is worst in appearance such as curly brackets that you don't really need in all languages. What makes matter worst is that C# is offspring of C++ which was only good for progammers and not to mention that it was bad for users. So stop bashing VB and learn to use it therefore it will save you from a lot of troubles. Read more of this issues in my next article "C# bring out worst in us" .

The big difference taht many don't realize is that you can hang a picture with a BIG hammer if you are skillful and careful but you can't build a house with a little hammer no matter how hard you try and how good a carpenter you are. So if you must choose - choose the BIG hammer. Learn ASM then C then C++ ( big hammer ). With a BIG hammer you can beat the hell out of anything. So, when you ask someone about their programming language skills, you ask "how's the hammer hanging?" ;) -- An eye for an eye will only make the world blind.

I just had a conversation about work-related issues with a VB-kinda guy who likes C# etc, that I am working with on a VC project. He just wouldn't understand the logic behind the VC code or any code for that matter. If you like VB, then you may be a person, a human being, NOT a programmer! this is this.
