I can't believe it: the CP team is regressing[^]. With less and less active CPU, the team is now 176th and falling :sigh: Congratulations anyway for all the ones who continues to participate to this great project[^]

I have just noticed that on the Active CPUs within 50 days count, I have 10% of Team Code Projects CPUs - That would explain why I am first! Come on everyone. Code Project has 2,045,632 members, there are over 1000 votes on all the weekly polls and yet only 53 active CPUs for our Folding@Home team. Its a worthy cause & may save your life one day.

What is the bandwidth usage of Folding? I ask because I pay for my bandwidth and have to be careful with apps like these which can sometimes go a bit haywire and eat up my monthly cap. regards, Paul Watson South Africa PMW Photography Gary Wheeler wrote: It's people like you that keep me heading for my big debut on CNN...

Assuming you mean internet bandwidth for download and upload of data, it connects about once every three days on my 2.6GHz PC and takes about 30 seconds to upload results and download new data for processing. (I do have a 1Gbit internet connection but I don't think their server works at that speed.) As for processer usage it just takes up the free time - I have never noticed it affect the speed of anything, even on a 350MHz PC.

AFAIK, bandwidth usage is relatively low and can be reduced by asking to work on small Work Unit (WU). You might find more info there: http://forum.folding-community.org/viewtopic.php?t=10867&highlight=bandwidth+usage[^] http://forum.folding-community.org/viewtopic.php?t=7522&highlight=bandwidth+usage[^]

Withouth having read the links, but wouldn't smaller WU mean faster completion of the unit and thus the need to send/recive more often? (Oh, btw - Folding for another smaller team :)) --------------------------- 127.0.0.1 - Sweet 127.0.0.1

Perhaps...I don't know if any study was made about it. Smaller WU are maybe processed faster, but I don't know the ratio between WU size and time needed to process them (supposing it is proportional). Hard to conclude, then :) Alsvha wrote: Folding for another smaller team

There are different sorts of work units which use different algorithms so I doubt there is an answer to the question - it will depend on what projects they are processing at the time. Alsvha wrote: (Oh, btw - Folding for another smaller team ) Well done :)

I also joined, I already have a high score, but not for CP. I wasn't aware CP had a team, I am on it now. You just got a XP 3200 on your team (only runs folding evenings and weekends though -- kind of like your cell phone). But I'll double the CPUs in a couple of months. _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. Talk about things of tomorrow and the mice in the ceiling laugh.
