Just been watching the Trafalgar fleet review[^] on BBC News 24. It's left me hankering for some naval combat. Can anybody recommend me a good Naval combat game for the PC. Modern warfare (post WWI) prefered but anything that involves ship-to-ship combat would be nice. Michael CP Blog [^] Development Blog [^]

Battlefield 1942[^] It is, of course, a WWII game, but I think you can download mods that update the weapons/vehicles/boats to more modern versions. The one we used to play was called Desert Combat[^].

Could try Silent hunter III[^]. Great game especialy with the mods. Can set the realism so high you have to manualy track ships with pretend ship tracking pencil and paper / program electromechanical torpedo computer with range estimates calculated from recognition manuals. Top analy retentive fun. Explosions are nice too. Get a slightly guilty feeling when I sink scottish trawlers with the 88mm deck gun though.

Strike Fleet! (ok, so you have to have an old apple II to play that, but it was an awesome game at the time). :)

Just last week. You're going to need some pretty darn good hardware to run it though. And a nice throttle+joystick if you want to do any flying.

Might I recommend going over to FilePlanet[^] and doing a search ... Also check out GameSpot[^] for the latest in games and whatnot (even without a membership, you should be able to find/read some reviews and information)
