I hate software patents. I hope the EU does away with most of the protections. I'm an American whose sick of some of the silly SW patents that are allowed here in the US. But when native English speakers make glaring errors or use 'gangsta spelling', it p*sses me off. Cheers, Vikram.

The scary thing is that I almost don't notice it any more. Mostly I still manage to keep my own writings readable (minimum of errors ;P)... Paul

I think that is a big problem all over India. :( I have seen people conversing in Hindi, Tamil, Marathi and Telugu (not much experience in other parts of India) and they all use English words liberally. Of course, people in rural areas speak chaste Hindi/Marathi/other native tongue. Nishant Sivakumar wrote: I do speak TVM-Mallu-slang quite well though My bay at office is more than 50% Mallu and they converse amongst themselves only in Malayalam. Try as I might, I'm not able to pick it up by listening to them. :sigh: Cheers, Vikram.

I wasn't going to take it any further, farther, farthest. You're not likely to get much war out of me. I'll usually make a comment and that's about it. This makes two comments and that is one more than usual which is unusual. Maybe it rubbed me a bit though. I'm a good speller but my grammar sucks. So if I make a grammatical error you'll have to sell me an exemption. No, you'll have to give me an exemption and probably several. My further, farther, farthest is me showing off. It's all I've got and I had to Merriam Webster it to be sure it was correct. My wife busts me all the time for my grammar. I'm starting to wild card it. Now if I write a there and am not sure I write the* and let my wife figure it out. So maybe it was a knee-jerk reaction because if I didn't draw a line you would be banging on my grammar next and don't worry you'll likely get a chance soon enough if it isn't in here somewhere already. I'm sure it is if only I knew what to look for...{SIGH}...but I don't.

It makes sense to me, Kodak must not be making too much money from cameras nowadays. I agree with you, it's all stupid. Are you sure you're on topic? The directive that is likely to be cancelled today is only about patents on computer programs. _________________________________ Please inform me about my English mistakes, as I'm still trying to learn your language!

I can only hope that our european deputies think about the consequences of their decision. Personally I hope that the bill about software patents will be rejected, because I too, fear that small businesses will lose ground towards greater software firms. Also I think that a law like this will provoke and complicate patent lawsuits. I think it would do more damage than it would help protect innovations. Regards Mathias P.S.: I am from Germany.

I think it's kind of annoying that such an important topic get's this kind of feedback! I don't like gangsta style spelling, but I don't hate it either. Also we had this conversation about gangsta style some days ago, now calm down and head on to the more important things. Regards Mathias

Certain big companies will try to reboot the CreateLaw.exe process, but it will take a loooooong time... _________________________________ Please inform me about my English mistakes, as I'm still trying to learn your language!

But when native English speakers make glaring errors or use 'gangsta spelling', it p*sses me off. Cheers, Vikram.

Vikram, Let us all bow down to your superior intellect and master spelling abilities. Could it be that I know the difference between "who's" and "whose" and made a mistake while writing fast and multi-tasking. You are an ass! Go screw your goat! Any mistakes here?
