It's the same person all the time. I've stopped visiting that forum at the moment because my modem is makes angry faces at me. There should be shorter message limit perhaps? Simon ...recently entered the land of stability with win2000. Also had his hard disk wiped thanks to a power cut during partition resizing. But hey! Sonork ID 100.10024

To test the speed difference I loaded the lounge and the vc++ forum in two windows simultaneously. The vc++ forum prolly got a head start of 1 second. The lounge loaded and I even posted and the lounge reloaded with my post. Then the vc++ page loaded. Serious. Amazing eh? Hey :rose: No probs. When someone asks you to post code, post only the relevant snippets. That'll make it easier for them too. Nish Sonork ID 100.9786 voidmain www.busterboy.org If you don't find me on CP, I'll be at Bob's HungOut

Whether adsl or dial-up modem or whatever the point is that the vc++ page loads half as fast as the lounge :-) Of course for you the difference might be in nano seconds Nish :-) Sonork ID 100.9786 voidmain www.busterboy.org If you don't find me on CP, I'll be at Bob's HungOut

Hey Marouane I woke up grumpy and have deleted the excessively large posts (since they had already been answered). I guess you've been chastised enough by everyone else about posting long code snippets so you can ignore the email I sent too ;) Just post the basics. Even the processing of cutting down a code sample to get it to a size that can be posted can sometimes lead you to a solution. cheers, Chris Maunder

Well I do my personal programming at home [at night] I used to sleep at around 12.' Now they dont let me do too much CPing in office, thus I gotta spend some quality Lounge time huh? Thus my sleep time got further pushed 3:36 AM now. The worst part is I gotta sleep and then wake up all within the next 2 and 1/2 hours... Nish Sonork ID 100.9786 voidmain www.busterboy.org If you don't find me on CP, I'll be at Bob's HungOut

Recently you might have noticed how the VC++ forum sometimes loads really slower. Take a look at this sample post here and you'll see why this is so. Thanx Nish for speakin up against this massive posting problem. I see it as a problem anyways. Who in there right mind would post 1000 lines of there code anyway. Unless it was cool and they wanted to share it. Otherwise, whats the point of sharing. Also, we might as well try and debug assembly with the horrible formatting most 1000 line posts have. That might be why CP seems to load slowly huh...I never even thought of that as an argument. However I did think Chris's pocket book would 'pay' the consequence(No pun intended) Have a day!!! :) "An expert is someone who has made all the mistakes in his or her field" - Niels Bohr

Hey Nish! Don't go down that road man! I've had weeks in the past when I've been SO busy that I simply have had to work through the day to get things to the standard I expect and have suffered fortnights and even months with just 4/5 hrs sleep a night, and that _really_ knocked me for six, I can tell you. Lack of sleep makes you less resonponsive, less productive, less able to solve problems and worst of all more stressed. Whilst we will miss you posting 100 messages a day it's not worth sacrificing your health :). Heed this advice, if only for your own sake. -- Andrew.

Thanks Andrew. I already understand what you mean. My friend woke me up [using repeated calling on my telephone] just now. She wont stop till I answer the phone. That way she knows for sure that I have indeed woken up. Barely 6:15 AM. I had just about 2 hours sleep. I am awake now. I cant go back to sleep. I badly badly wanna go back to sleep. Headche. Bad one, which I know will haunt me all today. In fact I almost feel as if I had a heavy dosage of alcohol yesterday. :-( I think from now on I'll come home and take a 7 hour sleep. Then wake up [some time around 4 AM]. Thanks again Andrew. Nish Sonork ID 100.9786 voidmain www.busterboy.org If you don't find me on CP, I'll be at Bob's HungOut

What's ironic is that the more code that is posted, the fewer the number of people, who'd be willing to even look at it. I mean people won't want to bother looking through 750 lines just to tell someone that he is making a bad cast somewhere around line 345 colomn 7. I mean none of us are error-detectors here, are we? It is easier, a lot lot more easier, for someone to be able to help if only the relevant code areas are posted. Exactly what I'm sayin. Imagine the embarrassment one would feel after being told his/her only error is a wrong assignment and thats what is causing the infinte loop. Ah well what can you do, but bitch...? Before I moved to my current job (I've been here 3 and a half years now! ) I was working in Berkshire on a much lower salary and making up the difference in overtime (about 60 hours a month). On top of that, work was 35 miles away up the A33/M4 (which is sheer hell in the morning), so I was leaving home at 6am to beat the traffic, and not getting back until 8pm or so. After 9 months of that, I was a complete wreck. :( Fortunately, these days I can mostly work 8:30am - 5:30pm, which is wonderful as I can spend more time with my kids (Ciaran is 3½ and Aaron 18 months). :) Andy Metcalfe - Sonardyne International Ltd
