Scottish £5 note honours Nicklaus

Does that mean that Scottish currency is now worth something and anyone south of Gretna might actually accept them?
Talk is cheap. Actions lower taxes.

LOL. Its a great honor for the Golden Bear for sure but those Scottish notes are not widely accepted. Our local butty shop has a note up that says 'due to the prevalence of forgeries Scottich notes are not accepted'.

I've never had a problem having my Scottish notes accepted south of the border. Anywhere that does try it just won't get my custom. Gavin Greig "Haw, you're no deid," girned Charon. "Get aff ma boat or ah'll report ye." Matthew Fitt - The Hoose O Haivers: The Twelve Trauchles O Heracles.

 And here I thought it was going to honor St. Nicklaus. But nooo. It's a golfer. :sigh: Marc My website

Yes, I read that some days ago in a local newspaper. I really think he deserves all the honors he can get, he has been such a great player for so many years, and he accomplished many things for golf that only Tiger Woods has recently surpassed (I mean not playing, but in a broader point of view, bringing more people into the game and so on.) However, maybe putting his face in a Scottish note is too much. I mean, it's a whole country paying tribute to him. Yes, it's the place where golf was born and he's the best player of all time, but... well, anyway, I'm very happy for him and for golf in general. BTW Colin, if you happen to get your hands on one note in good conditions (a.k.a new :)), could we arrange somehow for you to send it to me? I sure would like to have one, but I don't have plans for a trip to the UK in the foreseeable future. Coincidentally, today I'm wearing a shirt I bought at The Old Course in St. Andrews two years ago, that I had not worn in some time... and I'm writing about golf in Scotland. Those strange uninteresting things :) -- LuisR
