The source code found on this may be used for any purpose? Commercial whatever...? Royalty free correct...? So long as you leave the source in contact...? What happens if you change it..? What constitutes chnaged source code...enough so you don't have to clain someone else wrote it..? Just curious. I took a little grayscaling algorithm off of CodeGuru once, hacked the hell out of it to speed it up, and put it into a commercial app I was working on at the time. The police have not shown up yet. :) "Thank you, thank you very much" Elvis.

In a nutshell, you can use the code at your own risk. The rights that are provided or restricted are determined by the person or organization that posts the code, so you have to evaluate your right to use it on a case-by-case basis. Most major corporations, the government, etc., expressly forbid the use of code provided from an unknown or unverifiable source, some even go so far as to prohibit all forms of "Free" or "open" sourcecode Here's a link to a good discussion on this that happened about a year and a half ago: Rights discussion David http://www.dundas.com

I've been programming for many years (1/3 of my life), so it seems only appropriate. Doctor, Dentist...these would be nice, but require substantial fundings and other things I don't have, besides isn't the worlds richest man a software nerd? I know i'd never do exactly what Bill did, but i'd certinaly like some of the pie ;P Shouldn't we all do what we really love...? It would certainly make an interesting case. If I examine code placed in a public place and learn enough from it to create an improved version of that code, without actually using the original code set, and then use my new code in a commercial product, I would very interested to know what I could be charged with. I mean, can some one stop me from learning how to do something better or prevent met from employing that knowledge simply because I acquire it by having access to the work that someone else overtly made public? A client phoned and asked us to change a change back to the original, something I said they would do but they vehemently denied!
