Just heard a report on Sky News the police arrested someone at a hospital near one of the Subway stations. Hopefully they get the b*stards quickly. Uptight Ex-Military Republican married to a Commie Lib - How weird is that?

The stupid bastard probably burned himself setting the thing off. I do hope they have someone in custody and I do hope he squeals like a pig.

Can I volunteer to help? I have no experience at that sort of thing but am a quick learner and am eager to acquire new skills.

Grrr. Was on the tube (not any of the lines affected) coming back from a meeting via Liverpool Street. If these moronic freaks hate us and our culture so much why don't they just fuck off and leave us alone? Answer: cos they's rather we all fell in under their rule of hate and fear. Nice religion. Remind me to sign up. When hell has frozen, melted and frozen again. Which is where these twats should be. Now. Yes, I'm bloody angry again.

Your anger is misplaced. Murderous assholes exist in every society and every culture. The question you have to ask is how can so many of these guys exist in a closely knit community without a signigicant number of their neighbors not having some suspicion about what they are up to. That is something to get mad about - those who are hiding their cowardice behind a veil of moderation, hiding behind thier "peaceful" religion, hiding behind the civility of a too tolerant society. Maybe its time to start being a tad less civil and start making demands rather than requests. (ie. Stop saying "could you please monitor your wackos a little more closely" and start saying "if your wackos keep this up, we are going to start random deportations by the fucking busload"). Tolerance is a beautiful thing until the intolerant figure out how to take advantage of it. "Capitalism is the source of all true freedom."

The question is how does a true moderate behave when confronted with violent extremism? I would submit that every single allied troop who died on d-day was a moderate. That is how a moderate behaves. Every true moderate knows that there is no "moderate" way to respond to extremism and murder. At some point you have to be willing to be as out extreme as the extremist. I am convinced that "moderate" must be some middle eastern word for "coward". "Capitalism is the source of all true freedom."

I have always felt that Europe, as a whole, overreacted to the horrors of WWII, and went too far in the direction of openess and tolerance. I fear they are going to ultimately pay a higher price for the latter extreme then they did for the former. People who wish to understand why we Americans re-elected Bush need look no further than this. Our democrat party is simply too philosphically aligned with the European mind set, and that scares the hell out of a lot of us who feel that the comfortable middle ground includes questioning the concept of unlimited, non-judgemental tolerance. Thankfully it looks like the idiots fucked up their bomb recipie. All that studying of the 3 'Q's must have taken its toll. This time, we might actualy get closer to hearing the full story from their tacit supporters (what lovely boys, we would never have thought they were murderous fanatics, they just liked going to the mosque, bush is evil, etc), as we have one of them alive. Shame we can't just stick a bag on their head and pack themn and their pals off on the next gulfsteam to Syria.

I really resent when American icons are used to defend modern, Marxist idealogies. I don't think you have a clue about what Franklin meant. Fraklin would not have hesitated to monitor his neighbors activities if he thought he could save the lives of his other neighbors, and would have thought it an absurd notion that to do so was a sacrifice of anyone's liberty. "Capitalism is the source of all true freedom."

If my neigbor were to come home tonight stinking of explosives, perhaps with burns on his clothing, I would insure that he got an opportunity to explain that to the authorities. How many muslims in London will do the same tonight?
