How's the sound? I'd love to save some desk space but if the speakers sound worse than britney, I don't want them...

I'm looking to get a new 19" (or bigger) LCD. I have a 17" Sony that I like very much. I primarily use it for coding, so 1600 x 1200 would be sweet. I'm thinking about just getting the Dell UltraSharp 1905FP. It seems like a decent monitor for the price. Any other recommendations?

I asked the same question a few months ago. I ended up getting a Samsung SyncMaster 193P that I'm very happy with. ¡El diablo está en mis pantalones! ¡Mire, mire! Real Mentats use only 100% pure, unfooled around with Sapho Juice(tm)! SELECT * FROM User WHERE Clue > 0 0 rows returned Save an Orange - Use the VCF!

Samsung Syncmaster 213T. 21.3 inches and just under $600 these days for 21.3 inches of real estate. Have two on my desk rotated 90 degrees so more code fits on the screens from top to bottom:) That tiger direct deal on the 19 inchers seems pretty sweet too! Jim

My Sony SDM-HS74P is great. It's very bright. I imagine it will be my "preview" monitor while the new one will be for my code. It has a wide border, which won't be as fun when I put the new monitor along the side, but I'm not about to get rid of this one. Thanks to all for the recommendations thus far.

How noticable is a "not as fast" response time? If I play games once in a while, how big of an annoyance will this be? -D

If I play games once in a while, how big of an annoyance will this be?    FWIW, response time needed depends on the type of game you are playing.  If you are playing a fast-paced FPS, like Unreal Tournament at 130% game speed, you likely want pretty fast rates.  "Ghosting" makes for false sniper targets...    For slower-pased games, like Starcraft, or a MMORPGS, you might not even notice the refresh rate.    Peace! -=- James

I ended up getting the Samsung Syncmaster 213T for $500 off eBay. It's coming next Monday. He claims its in near perfect condition with no dead pixels or scratches. Let's hope so.
