Anyone else getting their email slammed with I-Worm/Lovgate.T & I-Worm/Mytob.AA? For the past couple days I've been getting several dozen infected messages. This is really hard on my poor 24.0kbps line as each one is 25-100KB. :sigh:

Found on Bash.org [erno] hm. I've lost a machine.. literally _lost_. it responds to ping, it works completely, I just can't figure out where in my apartment it is.

Don't know - I don't run AV software. ------- sig starts "I've heard some drivers saying, 'We're going too fast here...'. If you're not here to race, go the hell home - don't come here and grumble about going too fast. Why don't you tie a kerosene rag around your ankles so the ants won't climb up and eat your candy ass..." - Dale Earnhardt "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001

Yep, we are getting quite a bit of action from Mytob. I’ve been spending a lot of time reviewing logs to track down sources, and is not fun. I have virus infected traffic coming from several sources. Fortunately it is being caught by my virus system before it hits the users mail box, but it is still a pain. Jim

I haven't, but I recommend using a POP3 checker to clean up your mailbox before attempting to download new mail. I use Magic Mail Monitor[^] - it rocks! /ravi My new year's resolution: 2048 x 1536 Home | Music | Articles | Freeware | Trips ravib(at)ravib(dot)com

What are you guys running for a mail server and what are you running for anti-spam? I have quite a bit of experience with this (if you need some suggestions). If you are running a Linux mail server I cannot offer much help. I have yet to find a really good anti-spam for Linux. They are all so-so. If you are running a Windows Mail Server then check out http://www.vamsoft.com/ and click on ORF or Open Relay Filter. It's greylisting feature is just Awesome and the product is so unbeleivably priced it's not funny. Install takes 30 seconds, no reboot required. The configuration is very straight forward assuming your mail process is straight forward. It handles the Default SMTP Server of IIS flawlessly and also Exchange with no trouble. You didn't ask for advice and probably don't want it if that's the case sorry in advance just trying to be helpful if you need it. I do *too* much sysadmin on Windows/Linux so I thought I would be *really* nosey and annoying by telling you stuff I'm sure you already know or is totally not applicable.

I know you can't become if you only say what you would have done and you'll miss a million miles of fun." - Len Work hard, play hard. Don't forget who you are and don't forget where you're from. Do all these things well and you won't have to wonder where you are going. Code-frog System Architects, Inc.

Here me now and worship me later. I've used cloudmark, it's in that so-so category. ORF has a 30 day trial, fully functional and it rocks! I've used all of them from Mail Essentials on over to Cloudmark. ORF will make your mail Admin fall in love with Vamsoft. Peter Karsai has written an excellent product. It's auto-sender whitelist has to be the coolest thing since sliced bread. I know you hardly know me but check it out on a test box. It's so AWESOME! - Rex
