Hello, I am trying to find a program like Microsoft Money, because I cannot find my Microsoft Money CD's it was for an older version. And I do not like the new version of Money so I will not buy it. Ps. right now I am broke so free would be best.
I can't help you but I just had to comment that the irony of your situation must hurt like hell. regards, Paul Watson South Africa Colib and WebTwoZero. K(arl) wrote: oh, and BTW, CHRISTIAN ISN'T A PARADOX, HE IS A TASMANIAN!

Have you ever heard the expression "I don't know where it all goes". It is usually uttered by someone who is broke. Getting something to help manage money will help track where it goes and you can then make descisions as to whether the things that the money is going to are worth the money. I just use a spread sheet. And it is amazing what I spend money on. Most of it is necessary - Mortgage, insurance, gas, electricity, etc. I also account for payments made on a semi-regular basis, like road tax, magazine subscriptions, etc. so that I put away money on a monthly basis so I am not stung for £160 road tax once a year.

Yeah, but getting those feature requests that people (or one particular user) ask(s) for upgraded usually takes a long time. ;P On a serious note, I would swear by Ravi's freeware. Unfortunately, Money, crappy as it is, is the best that is out there. And unfortunately, you can no longer use the earlier versions (Money 97 etc.) as they dropped the backend suport for that about two years ago. I had a very frustrating couple of months when MS and my bank informed me that they would no longer support the opre-Internet versions of Money.. and that I had to "upgrade" to Money 2003, which would not run on the Win 95 box I was using for home stuff. SO I had to go out and but a new frigging computer (actually just moved them around in the pecking order here, and then had to buy a new one for my coding :') But then I was so pissed at MS for pulling this on me that I decided to buy Quicken. Whoa - big mistake. What a lousy UI. It's been two years and the details escape me, but I was extremely disappointed and threw it in the garbage.. then bought Money 2003. So now it's been a coupel years and I can stand it. Mostly by ignoring all the unecessary crap in the program

Alright, I read that you don't like the new one, blah, blah, blah... Here's the thing. I own a computer service business. Yes I gave up the software engineering thing for a paying job. Actually my business specializes in Patient Accounting systems. HERE IS THE POINT: I bought a bunch of hardware from a local vendor who was going out of business. We were going through some of the boxes and found 10 new copies of Microsoft Money 2003 Standard. I only have 5 left. These little pieces of software are in DVD cases still wrapped in cellophane. These packages contain free copies of Microsoft Money 2003 that were supposed to go with HP Printers. Well we don't have the printers and I can't sell them. But, I can give them away. The easiest thing would be to ship them media mail within the US. Media Mail is $2.50 and an envelope is like $0.50. So if anybody wants one, I don't mind dropping them in an envelope. Though I would appreciate getting the $3.00 for shipping and the envelope. I do have a Paypal account. If anybody wants one just email me (see link at bottom of message) Oh, to be fair , first come first serve. And please don't vote a 1 out of spite if you don't get one. Randy

Not to put to fine a point on it, but are you sure that you can give them away? Generally, those kinds of bundles (OS with new system, Photoshop Lite with a camera), are under OEM licenses. An OEM license generally says that the software must be distributed (bundled) with the accompanying hardware and cannot be distributed separately. I do not believe that those kind of software items can be given away, just as they cannot be sold. Might want to double-check to make sure you are not doing something too bad... Previously, OEM-licensed software from Microsoft used to have a different format for its product key. If the copies of MSMoney you have use an OEM key, I would tread with care when posting about how you are willing to distribute them. Peace! -=- James

DeleteFXPFiles & CheckFavorites (Please rate this post!)Yes, according to the HP Sales Rep that I spoke with. Apparently they are full retail licenses that no not require a key. The only stipulation in that they are to be given away. They would like them to be given with HP printers, as a bonus. Though, since they are older and I don't sell a lot of HPs (I would if the local Best Buy wouldn't undercut so badly)I should give them away or throw them out. He even suggested that I have some sort of promotion where the first so many people get a copy. Though there were only 10, so it didn't seem worth it. I did give 2 out with HP Printers, 1 was stolen, 1 broken, and 1 the dog used as a play toy.

I gave up on Quicken after having a bad time with Intuit's customer support. Since then, I've been using Money 2000. Anna :rose: Riverblade Ltd - Software Consultancy Services Anna's Place | Tears and Laughter "Be yourself - not what others think you should be" - Marcia Graesch "Anna's just a sexy-looking lesbian tart" - A friend, trying to wind me up.
