(From Chris's interview) 8. What is the future of WTL? Will it be made an official framework? We don’t have specific plans for WTL. However, we are rather stunned by its growing popularity and are keeping a close watch. It is not a topic we’re ignoring internally. The few, the rabid, WTL developers!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHA We shal take over the WORLD!!! Tim Smith Descartes Systems Sciences, Inc.

Maybe then MS can get their heads straight and have one person working on .NET and the .NET staff working on WTL :) /Magnus

Woohoo! I was starting to get worried about the future of WTL to be honest. Having started using it, I will now code all future projects in it wherever possible - the small code size and minimum DLL dependencies is a real breath of fresh air after all my monolithic MFC apps! I also hear from the Yahoo WTL group that Nenad is planning a new ATL7 compatible version in March ... now all we need is full IDE support in VS.NET and I'll be happy as a pig in s**t! :)

Finally. I just hope it stays lean and mean and MS doesn't screw it up by trying to make it all things to all people. P.S. - So what does everyone use it for? I'm using it to develop the UI for a Outlook Addin. The addin is written using ATL, so WTL is a natural.

We did a FULL product with WTL. We also used UNICOWS (***waves ah Michka***) from MS and ship a single UNICODE application for all platforms. I love WTL. We currently use a private version that supports WCE, so I am not totally sure we will switch to WTL 7. Tim Smith Descartes Systems Sciences, Inc.

I must have missed an acronym - someone at the post office no doubt nabbed one of my weekly trade mags. What's WTL, some kind of Windows-To-Linux porting tool? I like Penguins much better than goats!
