Back to work... too soon? :(

Well, back to the grind. After getting 5 days of "vacation" following the birth of our first child (girl: Kadence Louise) I am back to work. Funny, it feels like it's all too soon. Can hardly concentrate thinking of going back home to be with my wife and child again. It's so unfair in this country that they don't consider the men good enough for any kind of leave after a baby but the woman gets at least 6 weeks if not more. It stinks having to make all the money:sigh: Oh well, gotta go with what you're dealt. ------------------------------------- Do not do what has already been done.

Congratulations!! :-D I have a 7 month old daughter, and trust me, it does not get any easier to go to work. My wife and daughter will go visit her family tomorrow, I join them in 8 days. I'm not sure I can survive!! Thankfully her family has high speed internet access and a web-cam, 8 days without seeing my daughter smile would be impossible!!! 5 days is definitely not enough. My sympathies. :rose: When my first child was born I was shocked to find out that paternity leave was "1 day at the discretion of the company", and that there were no statutary rights to leave. Fathers could theoretically be sacked for taking time off to be with their new family...go figure. That's changed in the UK now, but I think there's still a long way to go. Hey! Don't be complainin' now... You're a Dad! You signed up with the big boys. You've got a big job to do. Raisin' a kid is TOUGH! Work hard. Learn plenty. Keep the lawn mowed. No time for whining now. Being a Dad is the toughest thing you can do. Use your time at work to relax. Kick back and enjoy a little coffee. Work at about 50% capacity - just enough to meet your deadlines and not be labelled a slacker. Save your strength for the mental and physical requirements of being a Dad. You've got stuff to lug, endless chores. Vacations to plan. A -HUGE- amount of video to shoot. Good Dads don't whine! Oh yeah - and congratulations! :) ...Steve
