cups of coffee (or tea, JoltCola, whatever) do you drink a day? I just had a meeting with a client and he told me he used to drink 10-15 cups of coffee a day :~ until he switched to green tea. And I thought 2 cups a day is already bad enough. Ed

10-15 a day! I'd spent my whole day in the bathroom! :-0 2-3 is enough for me.

Me too. I used to drink coke, not coffee, previously. Now my daily fluid intake consists of about 4-5 litres of water with the occasional orange juice.

I drink an entire pot of coffee each day, which corresponds to four 12 ounce cups. This isn't all that much in the way of caffeine, however. My recipe is one scoop of caffeinated plus four scoops of decaf. The entire pot gets carried to work in my trusty Stanley[^] half gallon thermos. Buying coffee at work is expensive, in the quantities I drink, plus the coffee here is pretty foul.

Exercise is great... but if the sleep apnea is often, then the best bet is a CPAP machine. If you find a good mask, you barely notice it. Although NM has a very small population, I set the state record in apnea/hypopnea events in a single night when I had my sleep study. After a CPAP no problems. However I still dream of caffiene IV's. The caffeine only covers up the apnea tiredness, you are still suffocating in your sleep. _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. I am down sharply from my past. I have about four cups of coffee a day, two to eight cups of diet soda, and two or more cups of chai or green tea, on a bad day I'll have two diet red bulls or a single can of diet no-fear ("we didn't take out the sugar, it got scared and ran away"). I have still been known to order my personal favorite drink once a month. Large White Knight Mocha (that's white chocolate mocha with vanilla), with two extra shots of espresso. The coffee house already has 4 shots in a large. Not quite as good as a caffeine IV, but darn near. _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. I should have qualified better for both you and Jeffrey. Apnea is something I have had since I was a child. Didn't know it until 1999. I had several sleep studies done and I have a rare form that is neuro not obstructive. I've had a CPAP since 1999 and would kill anyone who tried to take it. With apnea (even with a CPAP) your sleep quality sucks. So you are always dragging your tired @$$. Caffeine beats off the tired feeling so you can concentrate. I don't feel as tired as I used to but (exercise is wondeful) I still don't wake up feeling like SPARKY the wonder boy. I don't feel bad either. I used to wake up feeling totally exhausted and my legs ached. I would wake up covered in sweat and just feeling like crap all through the night. CPAP really helps. :) So caffeine is purely an alertness aid. CPAP handles the breathing issues.

Yeah, I know all about that. 3 sleep studies and 67 apnic events an hour on average. Been there done that. Had a CPAP since 1999 and if the power ever goes out long term I'm way beyond screwed. I love the CPAP. I have neuro apnea different than obstructive. The bad news is I've had it since I was about 7. The worse news is I didn't get treatment for it until 1999. Oh well, I hope it doesn't kill me. If you don't get it taken care of it will cause heart damage and kill you. Nice eh?

I got on a health kick a while back. I ditched all forms of columbian/chinese caffeine (Coffee/Tea) and I just have a product called Pollen Burst by Projoba. You have to Google for it. I set 2 cups espresso to convey the conversion. The nice thing about the Pollen Burst is unlike coffee it's great for your stomach, taste is amazing and it's loaded with nutrients. I have not had acid reflux since I started using it and I feel great. You have to buy into the company (it's cheap) to use it but oh man is it worth it. I use a lot of their other products to and let me just say... You *can* tell a difference. I've never fealt better. Getting your nutrient needs stable and balanced is a huge step towards feeling better. - Rex

It doesn't matter if you trickle charge off AC, charge it from your car, or slap a solar trickle charge on it, if you have CPAP it is invaluable to have a good DC power source. The big advantage of the battery is that it will last 3 nights on a good jump-start battery for the car using DC only. Using a battery backup (UPS) for AC, it will only last 20 minutes. 3-4 cans of Pepsi Max, it's sugar free but with taste unlike lots of diet colas. Elaine (excessively alert fluffy tigress) The tigress is here :-D

I have sleep apnea and without exercise on a regular basis I pretty much have to have a caffeine IV or somebody might actually pronounce me DOA. However, regular exercise cuts my caffeine requirements in half *at least* and usually more.

So, if its a medical condition, isn't there any kind of pill thingy they can give you to let you sleep better without any DOA-like side-affects. I mean something not mechanical like a CPAP I was joking aroung with one of my clients a while back (He's a surgeon) I asked him if he could give me a prescription for a Caffeine drip, to which he replied, "NO, but I can give you a prescription for caffeine in a pill form" I was just wondering if there's any help out there for that kinda thing.
