There's silent keyboards on the market now, so in one sense, the problem is already solved. From a pure security standpoint, someone using this technique would need physical access to the place with the keyboard, so its use is limited in a corporate environment. I have heard of the reverse being used, where the typing dynamics of the individual is used to verify that they are typing the password, and not someone else (who times the keypresses differently).

Wait a minute. How come they haven't blamed Microsoft's OS for this one. Even better, if you turned on those clicking noises that some themes apply to keyboard entry, it might even obscure the audio recording. :) Chris Meech I am Canadian. In my experience that wouldn't work cos as they type the password in they normally cover up the sound of the keys by reading out the letters/numbers of the password.
