Make sure you cough while typing your passwords... The latest podcast of Security Now! centers around a new type of security problem: The ability to detect what keys a user is typing by simply listening to the sound of the keyboard. A couple of researchers at Berkeley have been 90-95% accurate in their tests so far, and the good news is, they're planning on releasing the source code. http://keyboard-emanations.org/ "When you know you're going to eat crow, it's best to eat it while it's still warm." - Reader's Digest -- modified at 18:52 Friday 23rd September, 2005

Ouch !! Whilst I doubt that anyone would want to hear what I type. Now I think I can make out differences in the sounds my keys are making. Regardz Colin J Davies The most LinkedIn CPian (that I know of anyhow) :-)

I wonder if they take into account the fact that my typing keypress strength changes almost at random making even the same letter sound different from press to press. :-D _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau.
