Formula 1: Alonso!
-
We have a new Formula 1 Grand Prix World Champion. Fernando Alonso. Woooohoooo! Youngest champion ever, first Spaniard and the first to break Schumacher's grip since 1999. Montoya's win today at Interlagos was overshadowed and I dare say those were tears in Kimi's eyes at the post-race interview. Well done Alonso, you won and you won well. 2006 should be Mclaren's year though. Great though that it could be either Iceman or Monster. I also hear that the inagural A1 event went well. Brazillian won that. regards, Paul Watson South Africa Colib and WebTwoZero. K(arl) wrote: oh, and BTW, CHRISTIAN ISN'T A PARADOX, HE IS A TASMANIAN!

Yeah, I watched it earlier today. Kimi tried, but his efforts were not enough. Paul Watson wrote: 2006 should be Mclaren's year though. Great though that it could be either Iceman or Monster That's what I would say today. But in F1 rules recently change so much that the great car of the year won't necessarily be the best next year. A great example is Ferrari this year. They were by far the best last year, and well, you saw them this year. In most other sports, if you are the best one year, you start to slowly decline, but not as steep as in F1. So, all this means that while I think McLaren should be the best next year, there's no way to know until the season starts. But yes, congratulations to Alonso, he really deserved it. :) -- LuisR

Alonso really had a terrific season and a well deserved victory. About next year, I think it's anybody's guess how any team will perform. They're going to 2.4L V8's and most teams didn't even start testing their engines yet. Should be interesting, I'm looking forward to it.
