I understand where you are coming from, but it isn't realistic to think that Microsoft can or will just hand out free money. Matt Newman

Of course not. But, if you provided a service that made life easier for MS in some way, they might want to make extra-certain nothing happened to it. There's a downside to having the attitude that everyone is your competitor...

Is CP really in need of money? Is there a way to donate? (I'd be willing to pay some monthly fee to remove the ads.. Rawrg.)
I dunno if they need money per se, but I get the impression that the problem is that the site is being loved to death, and I'm suggesting that a number of servers be set up for paying users only, and that others remain free. CP is free, but paying users get a more reliable site. Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++

I am pretty sure that Microsoft does give CP a little money. But given some of the conversations I've browsed lately I'd say having some of their best and brightest give things a quick look-over and for them to provide some ideas, pointers and optimizations would be a nice and honestly generous response. Microsoft clearly does not need to do anything and honestly neither does CP. For Microsoft, they know they have good products and a lot of momentum and a site like CP just validates that for them. For CP, we just keep on coming back and none of us is banging on Chris real hard. We fully understand his situation and we are quite glad it's not our situation. Were I in Chris's (I don't get the impression it's a horse power or bandwidth problem) I'd sure love to get an industry experts opinion on things after I let him spend a day just looking things over. At one point in time I worked with Matt Curland on a problem and he pretty much helped me to bridge some code with assembler that took a system from 40+ hours down to 38 minutes. For Matt it was part of a day to have a look and make a tweak for me it saved a lot of trouble. If you are curious Matt Curland is one of the Visual Studio Developers and I believe his claim to fame is intellisense and auto-complete but don't quote me on that. - Rex {EDIT} Having said that. If we could donate enough money on a regular enough basis to get rid of the ad-rotators AAANNNDDD the ad-rotators are causing the problem to begin with I'd say that's a pretty direct path to a solution right there. However, no ads means no industry partners and there's many a time where having friends out there can come in real handy to. {/EDIT}

To talk in terms of business, I dont think Microsoft will fund CP so that CP can survive itself, They might think of aquireing CP sooner or latter. Sounds cruel but thats business.

I agree.. Except that dealing with seperate servers and seperate bandwidth for paying users would be much more work than simply removing ads for paying users. Maybe some other "plums" too - like ... I dunno. But stuff.:)
I don't give a toss about the ads, I just want the site to work :-) Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++

I've tried to read various articles today, and not one will work, all give the standard error. Is it just me, or are things getting worse ? And, who else here would be willing to pay a small fee for access to priority servers ? I sure would pay to make this site run like it used to. Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++
Surely, you can pay me, and I'll mail you all the latest articles.:-D http://www.priyank.in/
