No, like WinFS (the SQL file system, not WinFX the system API) they've dropped it from Vista default installs. It'll still be available for download, and possibly as an extra feature on the Vista DVD.

We would have only a black screen (blue, perhaps?) with a blinking cursor.

You are not saying that WinFS will be available on the Vista DVD as an optional install. Right? regards, Paul Watson South Africa Colib and ilikecameras. K(arl) wrote: oh, and BTW, CHRISTIAN ISN'T A PARADOX, HE IS A TASMANIAN!

AFAIK, WinFS will only be available as a seperate download. I was likening both WinFS and MSH and how they are not planned for release with Vista, but will still be available as downloads. I've heard MSH might be part of an option installation extra for Vista, but nothing solid at this point.

No. They dropped MSH because it wasn't going to be ready. Monad's shipping vehicle is going to be Exchange 12. And if they were going to drop it for security reasons, can you think of a worse product to include it in? ;P Besides, the "viruses" that Monad had were really just MSH scripts. I mean come on, it's no worse than a command shell script. In fact, it's better, because MSH runs in .NET and adheres to CAS guidelines. So a script can't do all that much damage unless the user is running with admin priveleges. Here's a good read from one of the Monad devs when the news of these "viruses" first hit slashdot: http://www.proudlyserving.com/archives/2005/08/preparing_for_s.html[^]

Picture a huge catholic cathedral. In it there's many people, including a gregorian monk choir. You know, those who sing beautifully. Then they start singing, in latin, as they always do: "Ad hominem..." -Jörgen Sigvardsson

What else a real programer needs?
