Using a monitor in portrait orientation
-
I want to use a normal, cheap, 15-inch LCD monitor in portrait mode (i.e. turn it on its side.) For it to be readable, everything which is displayed then has to be rotated through 90 degrees. Is this option available as a standard Windows setting? Is this option available as a feature of some graphics cards? Any ideas?

new graphiccards should support rotation of 90, 180, 270 degrees. my one year old nvidia supports this. P.

I dont think there is any setting in windows for this. Software which comes with nvidia cards have this functionality. I am not sure about ATI but I think they should have similar tool. -Saurabh

ATI does have such a tool. I was playing with it the other day. :) --

My two-and-a-half-year-old nVidia GeForce Ti 4800 SE-based graphics card supports portrait mode. My new LCD monitor also came with software for portrait mode - the screen actually rotates into portrait mode on the pedestal. Unfortunately ClearType doesn't seem to recognise portrait mode and looks worse than no anti-aliasing. Stability. What an interesting concept. -- Chris Maunder
