I'm heading to Sydney for Xmas / New Year, i'll be there for a total of 3 three weeks :) Any must dos while i'm there? Anything that doesn't appear in your typical tourist guide?

What sort of stuff are you into? Give us a hint and I'm sure we can come up with some suggestions. Rock climing? Shark wrestling? Chasing snakes? Or are you really after something extreme? If so you could hook up with Michael Martin for an afternoon down at the pub. You'll have to sign a waiver, though. cheers, Chris Maunder

Participating in extreme sports is definitly off the list, I don't mind watching other loonies trying to kill themselves though. Pubs and beer are good! Sports and music events would be good. Motorsports, is there anything on at Bathurst that time of year?

Yeah. Phone your friends back home while sitting on a beach in your swimming costume on Christmas day. Try to explain to them what Christmas at 38c feels like. Most of the office here in Ireland think I am taking the piss when I say we spend Christmas outdoors having a braai (BBQ) and swimming at the beach. regards, Paul Watson Ireland Colib and ilikecameras. Where abouts are you staying? There is plenty of different areas to go out drinking if thats your thing. There will probably be a cricket match at the Sydney Cricket Ground that you could go to. Most of the football and motor racing is over by that time of year. If you go out to Bathurst I think there is a tour you can do or you can drive your car around the race track (its a public road). There is all the standard stuff like Bondi beach, the Blue Mountains, Opera house, Harbour Bridge etc. You could take a car and go a few hours up or down the coast and find a camp site on a quiet beach. There are some fantastic walks you can do around the harbour and lots of small beaches if you dont like swimming in the ocean. There are some of the best restaurants you will find anywhere. Everything from classic Italian to Ethiopian. Different areas are known for different ethnic foods. You can fly to Melbourne for about $100 each way. You could take a trip to Ayres rock, the Witsundays, the Great barrier Reef etc etc

He's only got 3 or 4 weeks of training time left. Do you think he could get up to speed in that time frame? Unless things have changed the Boxing Day test match is at the MCG while I think the New Years test is at the SCG.

The view is good but its over priced and the food can be a bit hit and miss. Same with the restaurants at the top of Center Point Tower. I would go to the take away and eat it in the pub on the corner there.

I'll be staying next to Coogee beach. I wonder if my hire car insurance covers driving it round the Bathurst race track :)

but can you pronounce it right? :) There is a pub there called the Coogee Bay Hotel that is a bit of a pick up place for English back packers if thats your thing.

Its a public road like any other, there is a speed limit and a few intersections I think.
