Zone Alarm is really pissing me off. I only use it once in a while but it locked up all my ports so I can't running anything on my network or the internet without ZA running. I have it running most of the time and have had only a few problems. If it gets in my way is just disable it. It sounds like your system has gotten mucked up. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling it?

Forget about hacking, most of the things I block are from programs trying to be "helpful" and download or update things behind my back. It also gives me an easy way to stop pop-ups and other nasties from running amok. For a firewall, I just use a router with NAT and packet inspection.

Same here. 3 different pro copies running 24/7. The only problems I have it a blue screen caused by their driver when I plug in my pocket PC. I have had hassles also with ZA, and have found that uninstalling it then reinstalling it helped a lot. I realise that is illogical. :-) Regardz Colin J Davies

At work one computer already have this problem, and it's because it ran an evaluation copy that have expired. The only thing we have to do, is uninstalling it.

I had that happen once. And I had set and forgoten the password for ZA so I couldn't disable it or anything. Some file they installed in the windows/system directory was misbehaving. Once I deleted that file all was well. Can't remember what the hell it was though. Sorry. Josh Knox that-guy.net

What is your configuration? It should work well and you can disable it w/o it affecting the network. It has worked for me and has been moderately helpful. It showed my ISP has been sending packets to my ports to check if I have any webserver running...;) ;) Atul 100.13714 netdiva
