A friend of mine is working with me on updating my site. He's pretty talented and his name is Jed Splitt. You can nab his URL from this post if you wish. He's a good designer though I think... But with web stuff it's all relative right? wink-wink So he's come up with 8 logos for me. I like 3, 5 and 8. Which one (please keep it to 1 of the 8) do you like and feel free to list reasons to or not. I am asking because ultimately it will be people just like you who go to the site and like it... or not for these types of elements and logo has a lot of power I think. So here's the URL http://www.jedsplit.com/rex/logos.html[^] Reply in a post and let me know which one if any you like. Or do you prefer my current logo (see profile) and the site should just incorporate those colors... - Rex

#5, but make the "System Architects" darker. #3 would be my second choice. I don't like #8 because you have to tilt your head to read the text.

Here's an idea (he should be able to do this relatively quick) Instead of using the "O" in "FROG", put the ball with the frog on it. The ball can be somewhat bigger than the rest of the text since it's the primary graphic. Make sure the "R" and "G" in "FROG" overlap the ball a little. ------- sig starts "I've heard some drivers saying, 'We're going too fast here...'. If you're not here to race, go the hell home - don't come here and grumble about going too fast. Why don't you tie a kerosene rag around your ankles so the ants won't climb up and eat your candy ass..." - Dale Earnhardt "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001
I like that! You might also consider doing that with the O in CODE instead.

Is this for print or web? If it's for web, get him to produce them at the size they'll actually be used. They might look a bit different (esp 8, where the vertical text might not be legible).

Nah, since the ball has a frog on it, it would be better placed in the word "FROG". The brain will side the frog and fill in the missing "O" a lot easier. BTW, the "SYSTEM ARCHITECTS" text looks better on the bottom. ------- sig starts "I've heard some drivers saying, 'We're going too fast here...'. From my perspective they're all basically the same - slight variations of the word mark, with the same logo. I don't really have a preference. One suggestion I have though: Since you have a word mark along with the logo, a good check would be to see if the logo can stand on its own. That's what identifies major brands; and what makes for a great corporate identity. Examples would be McDonalds, Shell etc. They all have word marks, but don't need them to be recognized. It's not an easy thing to do which is why most companies have to rely on the word mark for recognition. I find your frog-on-a-rock to look a little too generic to be something that stands on its own. It's very nicely drawn, but it also looks like something you might find in a clipart library. Maybe something could be done with the rock to make it more unique looking? Anyway, just my thoughts. As an aside, John suggested using the rock as the 'O' in frog. It sounds neat and would probably look OK but that design has been put through the wringer an awful lot in the past decade or so. It's really been overdone - which would just makes the logo even more generic looking. For some ideas that are really fresh, you might want to check out HOW Magazine[^] or some other magazine for graphic artists. Their web stuff doesn't look all that comprehensive, but I get all kinds of new ideas from the actual magazine. I'm still searching for the inspiration I need for a new logo - hope you find yours! you really have to take one of the frog looking in the right direction.( no 6 or 7 ) because : right = future left = past You want your logo showing that you are ready to face the future (or whatever marketing bullsh*t) Just my CAD 0.02$ Stephane

If you are going to be using this logo for a company, you should also consider how it will be used on a business card and letterhead. It should also look good in a smaller format or have an alternative image for smaller formats. Tim Smith I'm going to patent thought. I have yet to see any prior art.
