Well, I know everybody here knows his way about programming but what about face to face human interaction? How good are you at that? This experiment is designed to test whether you can spot the difference between a fake smile and a real one [^] My result: 13. I need to get out more..... regards, Mircea Many people spend their life going to sleep when they’re not sleepy and waking up while they still are.

They're all fake. It's a silly thing to expect people to show a genuine smile when being recorded for a study. If they had shown clips of people in real settings who didn't know they were being filmed then I could see this having some relevance, but if you look at the clips people were sat down, clearly told to "smile" and nearly all of them start from a point of nervousness or boredom or anticipation to a forced smile and then turn it off again immediately. Real smiles don't look like nearly any of them.

I got 12 but deliberatly made my own experiment. The first 10 I did not play the video, just looked at the preson. I was right twice as often when I did that versus watching. Also dispite what the theory is, I do not believe you just turn off you emotions and the smile goes away completely if it is real. So I firmly beleive the assesment method is either faulty or more likely, people are better fakes than the list of which are real or not indicates. They probably are all fake, jsut some people are happier than others to start with. IMO. "Simplicity is more complicated than you think. But it’s well worth it” (Ron Jeffries)

That's funny, I got 12 as well and I felt the same way as you do exactly. You can't expect a genuine smile in a such a forced setting. It's not scientific by any stretch of the word. Now if they had filmed people covertly at a party, then went up to them afterwards and quizzed them to determine if that moment they were just being nice or genuinely smiling then showed those clips it would be much more valid. This is the equivalent of a womans magazine quiz.

someone overhere get a low puntuation  Seriusly, it seems like the "real" ones are provocated by something that happens behind the camera. If you look the eyes, some of them are watching something for an instance and them they smile.

I saw a woman wearing a sweat shirt with "Guess" on it. So I said "Implants?" She hit me.

I only realised around #16 or so that I had missed the smiles. My initial reaction was that none of these people are freaking smiling. Only when I clicked "previous" did I see the smile in real time. The DJ's took pills to stay awakwe and play for seven days. - Jim Morrison, Black Polished Chrome.

How do you know they did that? Maybe they manipulated the people into smiling, telling jokes, using familiarity, complimenting them, insulting others, etc. The DJ's took pills to stay awakwe and play for seven days. - Jim Morrison, Black Polished Chrome.

Real smiles don't look like nearly any of them.

well said john.. a real simle would last for few more seconds. if its true ,their mouth'd (& cheeks too)be streched for a while before it gets back to its normal form. here except very few, simle and immediately get back to thei normal mum. that's because they are recording and the "simler" should finish his job in time. FAKE FAKE FAKE..
