Doctor Who: The Christmas Invasion

The new Doctor is not bad at all, I must say. And I promise not to watch ITV for the rest of the evening either, just in case....... (not that I was going to anyway, but hey.... I've had to put Kerrang! Radio on as there's more stuff[ing] in my freezer than on telly now  ) And Merry $HOLIDAY to you all!

I would say that the new Doctor is fantastic. I'm guessing that they returned to Earth somewhere between 8 and 15 years after Rose left at the end of the previous series. The Doctor said previously that Harriet Jones would serve 3 terms in office and it was obvious by the end that this was her last term. I did think it was funny that Rose's mother said that it was a Golden Age and she was £18 a week better off. Seriously - over a period of about a decade would you notice £18 a week better off, that's just £1.80 a week better off per year and what of inflation? (Am I analysing this too much?)

Yes :-) Thing is, I'm sure they said it was 2005 or 2006, so I reckon they broke the continuity on the 3 terms thing - and the 18 quid would make a lot more sense then.
